NOTICES FROM THE TAX OFFICE
Tax Payment Due Dates and Grace Periods:
The Tax Department would like to remind everyone that
taxes are due four times a year: February 1st, May 1st, August 1, and November 1. Tax payments have a 10-day grace period - on the 11th day of each quarter tax payments are subject to interest. The interest rate is 8% on the first $1500 and 18% for any amount over $1500, retroactive to the first of the month. If you have any questions about tax payments, please call the Tax Department at (973)509-4923, 4922, 4921.
Avoid Tax Sale
The Tax Sale for any open 2007 property taxes, water and sewer charges will be on October 21, 2008. All payments MUST be received by October 20, 2008 by 3:00pm to be removed from the Tax Sale.

• To obtain outstanding water amounts please call (973) 509-4925, 4924.
• To obtain outstanding sewer amounts please call (973)509-4977, 4922.
No personal checks will be accepted. Certified check, official bank check or cash are the only forms of payment that will be accepted.

Township Manager's 2008 Budget Message:
Imagine that tomorrow morning someone knocked on the door of your home to inform you that, effective immediately, your household was not allowed to spend in 2008 more than 3 1/2% more than what you spent in 2007 – and this despite the fact that your gasoline and heating costs are up over 30%, electricity up over 20%, food costs up over 15%, insurance costs up over 10%, mortgage costs up, etc. Also, even if you received a bonus or salary increase at work, or had savings you could dip into, it didn’t matter – you must still keep your spending at no more than 3 1/2% above the previous year.
