The Montclair Engineering Bureau is primarily responsible for design and construction management for capital improvements to township infrastructure. Program areas include street improvements, parks, and drainage/storm sewers. Montclair owns and maintains 82 mils of public streets; 42 miles of storm sewer and 152 acres of public parks. Essex County owns and maintains another 14 miles of streets and 124 acres of parks within the Township of Montclair.
Other responsibilities of the Engineering Bureau include permitting and inspections for private construction of sidewalk, curb and driveway aprons within the public right-of way; traffic engineering and safety studies; maintenance of township maps; and assistance to residents with engineering-related matters. |
