August 23, 2007
The Montclair Parking Authority is currently working on the broken meter situation that is occurring town-wide. All coin operated parking meters in Montclair are powered by a 9-volt battery. Although the meters are only in effect Mon-Sat 8am to 7pm, the units are on 24/7/365. We are currently in the process of changing 100% of the batteries in the parking meters throughout the Township. As of today, we are about 90% complete with this project. We anticipate that we will reach 100% completion by the end of next week.
If anyone receives a parking ticket at a meter that is broken/dead, they should immediately contact the Montclair Parking Authority and report the broken meter to our office. We will then dispatch our maintenance staff to that meter and try to confirm that it is in fact broken. The staff will then repair the meter, as well as notify the office staff that the meter was broken. The Montclair Parking Authority will then speak with the court on your behalf to get the ticket dismissed.
The Montclair Parking Authority can be reached Monday Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. at 973-509-4997.
