On or about Monday, December 10, 2007, work will begin on construction of traffic calming improvements on Upper Mountain Avenue between Laurel Place and Mount Hebron Road. Construction on a new off-street access drive in front of Mountainside Pool will also begin at this time. The access drive will be a short one-way loop road in front of the pool entrance. It will facilitate dropping off passengers.

Three speed tables will be constructed on Upper Mountain Avenue when the loop road is paved. Speed tables are 22 ft long (in direction of traffic) and rise to 4 inches above the roadway surface. Speed tables are used to slow vehicular travel speeds and have been installed in several other locations in Montclair.  The contractor for this work is L and L Construction of Nutley, New Jersey.
