Montclair Township pools open for the 2008 swim season Saturday, May 24 for weekends only from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Beginning June 23, 2008 the hours of operation will be Monday through Friday 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. and weekends and holidays from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 pm.

Season permits are available for purchase at the Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs office in the Municipal Building, 205 Claremont Avenue between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. In addition, the Recreation office is open until 8:00 p.m. every Tuesday beginning May 6 through July 1, 2008.

This year’s pools program will once again feature weekly evening swim sessions open only to adults and persons with a disability. During the special sessions a lap lane will be made available in addition to open pool lanes for recreational swimming. The sessions are held every Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at alternating pool locations:

July 3 – Essex Pool
July 10 – Mountainside Pool
July 17 – Nishuane Pool
July 24 – Essex Pool
July 31 – Mountainside Pool
August 7 – Nishuane Pool
August 14 – Essex Pool
August 21 – Mountainside Pool
August 28 – Nishuane Pool

Swimming lessons for beginner and advanced beginner will be offered at each pool location. The cost is $45 for six – 45-minute sessions.

A morning aqua-size program for senior badge holders is offered at Mountainside Pool from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. twice a week. All participants for both programs must be season badge holders.

PLEASE NOTE: Mountainside Pool will close at 4:00 p.m. on July 4th for the preparation of the fireworks display in Mountainside Park.
