"We were surprised at the turn out and never expected to have that many more come," said run organizer Carol Kearney. "The only disadvantage was that there weren't enough shirts for everyone – a minor issue."
The 2-mile fun run/walk had 366 runners of all ages participating. This includes 58 students from the Montclair Schools.
"It was great to see so many more families participating with their children," said Montclair Recreation and Cultural Affairs Director and event organizer Pat Brechka. "There were also many more YMCA members who were training for their first run."
Eight YMCA members from the Active Older Adults Class walked the 2-mile course, including 85-year-old Montclair resident, Bob Davis who clocked a respectable 34:52.
"The weather was perfect, everyone loved the shirts, sports massages, and moon walk for the kids," said Kearney. "A real treat was having the YMCA's Angle Williams doing a Hip Hop demonstration and Barry Swartz as DJ keeping the kids moving with games."
