How to purchase a parking permit:

The Office of the Municipal Clerk is no longer responsible for parking permits. The following permits, once provided by the Municipal Clerk's office, must now be purchased from the Montclair Parking Authority.

Daily (D) passes - good in all municipal parking lots

Nightly (N) passes - good in all municipal parking lots

R permits (Rental Reserve/24 Hr)

N permits (Night permits)

W permits (Walnut & Watchung lots)

U permits (Upper Montclair lots)

MH permits (Montclair Heights lot)

S permits (Nighttime On the Street)

Only D and N passes and N permits are currently available. All other permits have a waiting list. Please call the Montclair Parking Authority if you would like to place your name on a waiting list: 973-509-4997.

The Montclair Parking Authority is responsible for the operations of off-street parking within the Central Business District. In addition to the above, the following lots and decks fall under the jurisdiction of the MPA:

• Valley Road Parking Plaza
• Maple Parking Plaza
• South Fullerton Parking Plaza
• South Willow Parking Plaza
• Plymouth Parking Plaza
• Midtown Parking Plaza
• Grant Street Parking Lot – East & West
• Sherman Street Parking Lot – East & West
• Bay Street Parking Lot (Train Station Lot)
• Fullerton Parking Deck
• Orange Road Parking Deck (Level 1 only)
• The Crescent Deck at Montclair Center

Types of permit valid in Montclair Parking Authority Lots:

'C' Permits: Valid 7 days a week, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in permit spaces only.

'R' Permits: Valid 7 days a week, 24 hours a day in specified reserved spaces only.

'N' Permits: Valid 7 days a week, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. in permit and meter spaces only.

'B' Permits: Valid 7 days a week, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Bay Street lot/Deck only.

The Crescent Deck at Montclair Center Permit Types:

'DAY' - Valid 7 days a week, 7:00 a.m.. to 7:00 p.m.

'NIGHT' - Valid 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m., Monday-Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday.

'24-HR' - Valid 7 days a week, 24 hour a day.

How to obtain a permit:

'C' Permits - currently there is a waiting list for these permits. Please contact the Montclair Parking Authority to be added to the waiting list.

'R' Permits - currently there is a waiting list for these permits. Please contact the Montclair Parking Authority to be added to the waiting list.

'N' Permits - permits are available by visiting the Municipal Clerk's office located on the first floor of the Municipal Building, 205 Claremont Avenue.

'B' Permits - currently there is a waiting list for these permits. Please contact the Montclair Parking Authority to be added to the waiting list.

Crescent Deck at Montclair Center Permits:

'DAY' - currently there is a waiting list for these permits. Please contact the Montclair Parking Authority to be added to the waiting list.

'NIGHT' - Permits are available Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the management office at the deck. Permits are $24 per month.

'24-HR' - currently there is a waiting list for these permits. Please contact the Montclair Parking Authority to be added to the waiting list.
