Montclair to Join 10th Anniversary Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk PDF Print E-mail

Montclair Township will join the fight against breast cancer on Sunday, October 15, 2006 by walking in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Event in Military Park, Newark, NJ.

Mountainside Hospital is generously sponsoring “Team Montclair” and will provide “Team Montclair” T-shirt to the first 75 walkers who register through the town.

An estimated 212,920 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States during 2006. More than 1,400 women will lose their lives in the state of New Jersey alone. That’s why Montclair has committed to join the fight against breast cancer – to help make this disease a thing of the past.

Funds raised through Making Strides against Breast Cancer will support the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer programs in research, education, advocacy and patient and family support services.

The race route starts and ends in Military Park, Newark. Registration will open at 8:00 a.m., and the run and walk will begin at 10:00 a.m.

To join the Montclair team, and to receive your registration material, call the Montclair Township Health Educator, Erica Abbruzzese at (973) 509-4969.
