The Township of Montclair is pleased to welcome our new Township Manager Marc D. Dashield. After a two-week transition period working with retired Township Manager, Joe Hartnett, Marc is eager to begin his tenure here. A swearing in ceremony was held yesterday morning so that the new Manager may officially begin his duties and a formal swearing in will take place at tonight’s Township Council meeting.

Utilizing his myriad and diverse professional skills, Marc brings a wealth of municipal experience to Montclair.  Serving as former City Administrator for the City Plainfield and Director of Finance/CFO for Franklin Township, he also held Assistant Township Manager and the Township Clerk positions while employed by the Township of Franklin.

In addition, Marc’s broad experience includes management of construction/zoning code enforcement and land use planning functions for the City of Elizabeth.  His passion for municipal administration is rooted in his commitment to public service and ability to work with diverse communities.

Marc’s service extends globally to the international arena as a Commissioned officer in the United States Army Reserves Civil Affairs, where he worked with local officials during Operation Desert Storm. Marc was also an adjunct professor at Kean University in the department of Public Administration, teaching undergraduate students public policy. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Public Administration from Kean University and certification as a Chief Finance Officer in the State of New Jersey.

Among Marc’s first priorities as Township Manager will be to build partnerships with all segments of the community, the Township Council, township staff and surrounding communities to achieve excellence in the delivery of services for the residents of Montclair.
