Montclair Economic Development

Montclair offers many assets that promote economic growth and has been proactive in creating a business-friendly community. The Township has been designated as a Smart Growth area by the State of New Jersey, making the Township eligible for a variety of funding programs from the NJHMFA, NJEDA and other agencies. The Bloomfield Avenue corridor has been designated as part of the national Main Street program and is supported by an active Business Improvement District (Montclair Center BID).

Montclair Township has many historic districts, which are eligible for grants from various preservation organizations and federal Historic Preservation Tax Credits. The area around the Bay Street Station has been designated as a Transit Village, making development projects in this area eligible for special financing. Finally, Township is development-friendly, as evidenced by the number of redevelopment and rehabilitation areas that have been created.
