Seeking Student Volunteers for Environmental Event Saturday PDF Print E-mail

The Environmental Affairs office is looking for student volunteers to help out at the Township's Shred-Fest! which takes place this Saturday, May 30, from 9:00 1:00 p.m. at the Public Works Yard, 219 North Fullerton Avenue, 07042. We need help assisting residents with unloading bags or boxes of paper documents from their cars; no heavy lifting but good hard work for 4 hours (with breaks).

If you're a high school or college student looking for Community Service credits or environmental work experience you will receive an official letter of commendation from the Township Sustainability Officer.

To volunteer or for questions, please call the office of Environmental Affairs immediately, up until 8:00 a.m. Saturday: 973-509-5721. Volunteers should arrive by 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, and will be finished by 1:00 p.m. This is a rain or shine event, so dress accordingly.

Third Ward Community Meeting to be Held June 3 PDF Print E-mail

Third Ward Councilor Sean SpillerThird Ward Councilor Sean Spiller will hold a community meeting on Wednesday, June 3 to address residents’ concerns on the Township’s area in need of redevelopment study that includes the Seymour Street area. The meeting will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building second floor conference room, 205 Claremont Avenue. Township Planner Janice Talley and consultant architect Ira Smith will be present to answer questions from the community.

Earlier this year, the Township Council determined that Seymour Street, Glenridge Avenue, and Lackawanna Station meet the legal requirements for "area in need of redevelopment" designation.  Another public hearing on the redevelopment investigation is scheduled before the Planning Board on June 22.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and will have an opportunity to ask questions and express their concerns.

Corrected Sewer Bills to be Mailed to Affected Customers PDF Print E-mail

The Montclair Sewer Utility sent a number of customers incorrectly calculated sewer bills. The miscalculated bills are being adjusted to reflect correct amounts and will be resent to affected customers within the week.

Please keep in mind that sewer bill payments are not due until June 30. If you need to inquire about the correct amount owed on your bill, please call the township billing office at 973-509-4977, 4921, 4922 or 4923 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
