The Montclair Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs offers year-round recreational, athletic and cultural programs for all ages and abilities. The Department serves the interests and welfare of all residents through programs that encourage healthful and active lifestyles, provide opportunities for learning and enrichment, and help foster a sense of community. The Department strives to offer a wide variety of activities through innovative programs and cooperative ventures in order to continue building recreational opportunities, while enhancing the quality of life for Montclair residents.

Middle School Fencing Registration Now Open PDF Print E-mail

Middle School Fencing program registration is now open. Register onsite March 12 at 6:45 p.m. in the Montclair High School Annex Gym (freshman building). The fee is $75. The fencing program runs through May 14. Equipment is provided.

Sign-ups for MRCA Youth Track & Field Now Open PDF Print E-mail

Montclair Recreation’s Spring Track & Field Program for grades 3-8 is now taking registrations. Boys and girls compete recreationally against neighboring towns. The program teaches basic and advance skills needed for youth to compete in appropriate Track & Field events.

Teams will meet twice a week for practice or meets. The season begins in April and ends in June.

Participants will be issued track jerseys but must provide won sneakers or track shoes (non-spikes).

Montclair Recreation Spring Flag Football Registration Now Open PDF Print E-mail

Spring Flag Football sponsored by the NFL.

Montclair Recreation announces Spring Flag Football registration for kids ages 7-14. The program runs from April 6 to June14. The fee is $75. Game jerseys, mouth guards and flags will be provided. Players are required to wear sneakers or cleats. Teams will play against Bloomfield Jr. Bengals teams.

MRCA Offers Sports Squirts Program for Kids 2-5 PDF Print E-mail

Montclair Recreation in conjunction with US Sports Institute will offer spring sports programs for ages 2 to 5.

Total Sports Squirts (ages 3-5) will introduce a new sport each week of the program. Children will have the opportunity to try Lacrosse, Soccer, T-Ball, Floor Hockey, Flag Football, parachute games and more in a safe, structured environment.

No Skating at Edgemont Pond PDF Print E-mail

Ice conditions on Edgemont Pond are unsafe, therefore there will be no skating on the pond until further notice. Montclair Parks services will continue to monitor the ice for safe skating.

Edgemont Pond opens for skating only when weather and ice conditions permit. Flags are posted at Edgemont Park to let the public know if the ice is of sufficient depth for skating: red flag denotes it is unsafe to skate and green flag indicates skating is permitted.
