The Montclair Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs offers year-round recreational, athletic and cultural programs for all ages and abilities. The Department serves the interests and welfare of all residents through programs that encourage healthful and active lifestyles, provide opportunities for learning and enrichment, and help foster a sense of community. The Department strives to offer a wide variety of activities through innovative programs and cooperative ventures in order to continue building recreational opportunities, while enhancing the quality of life for Montclair residents.

Tree Lighting & A Visit With Santa

Tree Lighting on Church StreetMontclair Township will host its annual holiday tree lighting on Friday, December 4 at 6:00 p.m., in Church Street Plaza. Listen to music by the Montclair Community Band and enjoy an evening of fun winter entertainment in downtown Montclair. Please Note: Church Street will be closed to vehicular traffic at 5:00 p.m.

Santa Comes to Town

Saturday, December 5, Santa will visit the Business Districts on a Montclair Fire Department fire truck and will have gifts for all youngsters.

    soccer ballMontclair Recreation and Montclair United Soccer Club are once again offering the futsal indoor soccer program for boys and girls in grades 1 through 8. Futsal is a fast, fun South American small-sided hard court soccer game using a low-bounce ball. It helps improve players' skills and speed of play.

    The Montclair Futsal program runs on Saturdays, January-March at Mt. Hebron /Buzz Aldrin Middle School and Northeast Elementary School.
    The cost is $50 for a 9-week session; uniform is included.

    Montclair Recreation Cheerleaders Top Pop Warner GS Competition PDF Print E-mail

    The Montclair Bulldogs cheerleading team showed that they’re a force to be reckoned with in North Jersey Pop Warner with both Jr Pee Wees (ages 8-10) and Midgets (ages 12-14) cheer/dance squads taking first and second place in their respective divisions for the third year in a row. The Bulldogs put on a great performance on Sunday, October 25 in front of 2,300 in attendance during the North Jersey Cheer & Dance Competitions at John F. Kennedy High School in Patterson, NJ.

    Snowboarding and Skiing at Mountain CreekRegistration is now open for the 2016 Skiing and Snowboarding program for kids in grades 7-12. The program offers five ski/snowboarding trips to Mountain Creek in Vernon, New Jersey.

    Where: Mountain Creek Ski/Snowboard Resort, Vernon Valley, NJ
    When: Thursdays from January 7 through February 4, 2016 (weather-permitting)

    The bus departs from the front of Montclair High School (100 Chestnut Street) at 3:30 p.m. and returns at approximately 10:15 p.m.
