Questions and Answers Regarding Montclair's Sewer Utility PDF Print E-mail

Q. Why did the Township of Montclair create a sewer utility?

A. Like many municipalities, the Township of Montclair has determined that billing customers directly for their usage of the sewer system is more equitable than charging all taxpayers at the same rate for a sewer system.

Q. What will the funds received by the Sewer Utility be utilized for?

A. Funds received by the Sewer Utility will be utilized to pay for the cost of treating all waste water that is discharged into the sewer system, which is $2.7 million per year, and for the cost of repairing and maintaining all of the sanitary sewer lines in the entire community.
