NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING: Nishuane Green Acres January 16 PDF Print E-mail

Please take notice that the Township of Montclair (Township) will hold a public hearing on January 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Township Municipal Building, second floor conference room, 205 Claremont Avenue, Montclair, New Jersey. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comment as to the proposed diversion of a portion of Township-owned parkland, Nishuane Park, located at Cedar Avenue, Block 2003, Lot 4 in the Township of Montclair, County of Essex.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a second hearing on the Nishuane Well Project -- the first hearing concerns Nishuane Park's state-monitored Green Acres designation and the Township's request for a minor diversion to construct a pumping facility. See hearing notice

The Public Hearing originally scheduled for December 18, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Township of Montclair Municipal Building, as required by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (“NJDEP”), to receive public comments on the Nishuane Well Production Facility Project (the “Project”), is rescheduled to be held on January 17, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. The hearing will take place at the Township of Montclair Municipal Building, second floor conference room, 205 Claremont Avenue, Montclair, New Jersey 07042. The Project is to be sponsored by the Township and financed through the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program (“NJEIFP”).

Interruptions anticipated during construction work - South Park Street

Please note that Tuesday, August 9, Jo-Med Contracting Corp., the contractor responsible for improvements to the Township’s water and sanitary sewer systems, will be making a tie-in of the new water main on South Park Street. This work may require temporary interruption of water service in the area, which should last approximately four hours, and will occur some time between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Residents should flush their water systems once service has resumed to ensure that water quality is restored.

Additional notifications regarding utility disruptions associated with this project will be posted prior to commencement of construction activities. Should residents encounter any problems associated with these activities, please contact the Field Inspector, Steve at 201-841-2119 or the Design Engineer, Joe Weaver at 973-398-1776 x 2310 for assistance.
