Community Development Block Grants

Montclair Township typically receives approximately $300,000 annually in HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.  These funds are largely used for capital projects within eligible areas of the Township. Some of the funds are available to non-profit organizations whose projects benefit primarily persons of low and moderate income such as substance abuse counseling and youth programs.

Applications for funds from the CDBG program are available from the Montclair Department of Planning & Community Development in late October and will be available on the Township website.  A public hearing will be scheduled for early November to discuss the application process and those interested in applying should attend. Completed applications will be due in the Montclair Planning Department by late November.  A second public hearing will take place at the first Township Council meeting in December.  The purpose of this hearing is to solicit public comment about applications that request more than $10,000 in funding.
