Census 2020

The 2020 Census is here. Make sure you’re counted!

Responding to the 2020 Census helps every generation in our community. An accurate count means that communities receive the funding, services, and business support they deserve and need. The Census count determines how many seats each state gets in Congress and guides how more than $675 billion of federal funding is distributed to states and communities annually. Census information is important for funding services like: Medicare Part B, first responders, housing, libraries, and SNAP benefits. It also helps determine where roads, and hospitals are needed.

As of March 9th, you can call and speak with a live customer service agent to ask Census questions and receive assistance with the questionnaire.  For English, dial 844-330-2020.  For Spanish, dial 844-468-2020.

Your responses are confidential and protected by federal law, and Census data are never shared with any law enforcement agency. The Census will never ask for your Social Security Number, money, or donations. To learn how the US Census Bureau  protects your information, visit 2020Census.gov.

 Montclair/Bloomfield Complete Count Committee (MBCCC)

Montclair and Bloomfield joined forces to form a Complete Count Committee to ensure that the 2020 Census brings appropriate funding and resources to our communities. The Committee focuses on those who are at risk for being significantly undercounted, including very young children, low income residents, people living in multigenerational housing, and others. Montclair and Bloomfield both have multiple census tracts that were undercounted in 2010.

The Montclair-Bloomfield Complete Count Committee is chaired by Anne Mernin of Toni’s Kitchen in Montclair. The Committee includes representatives from the schools, local government, libraries, local nonprofit organizations and others serving Hard To Count populations. The partnership was formed thanks to the support of Montclair Mayor Robert Jackson and Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia. Grant funding from Partners for Health Foundation is supporting the efforts of the Committee.
