Field Hockey

Montclair Recreation Girls Field Hockey

Join us for a new and exciting program for Girls in grades 3-6.

Our program is an instructional and fun way to introduce the game of field hockey to our players. Montclair has a competitive and long-standing tradition of field hockey.  In keeping with that tradition, the recreation department would like to help develop a feeder program for youth.

Montclair teams are members of the Suburban Recreational Field Hockey League and will compete against neighboring townships. Home games and practices will be scheduled on weeknights and Saturday afternoons at Watching field.  The team will travel locally to away games.

Levels of play

Grades 3-4 (clinic) Registration opens in October

Teams will practice on an instructional level, learning the basics of the game. Halfway through the season the teams will be formed into groups of 7 vs 7 and will scrimmage against neighboring towns to give players a feel of game play.

Grades 5-6

Teams will practice weekly at home and play both at home and away against neighboring towns. Games are played 11 vs 11 with goalies.

Grades 7-8
