Montclair Pools

Due to the scope of construction at Essex and Nishuane Parks, Mountainside Pool will open on Saturday, May 28, 2022 and operate on weekends ONLY until June 28, 2022. Pool hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. On June 29, 2022, we anticipate to open Nishuane and Essex pools, depending on the completion of the construction surrounding the pool areas. We will be providing updated information about the construction work.

Pool Fees:

$250 Family (2 Adults and 2+ children or a single parent with 3+ children)
$85 Adult
$60 Child/Youth
$25 Senior
$85 Caregiver (must be purchased with a pool membership)

Daily passes/guests will not be permitted at the pool. All persons must be Montclair resident pool members.

Register at register.communitypass.net/montclair. Proof of residency is required for registration.

The Montclair Recreation & Cultural Affairs office will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. The office will also be open until 8:00 p.m. on May 17, June 13 and June 21 for pool pass pick up. Proof of residency is required for pool passes.

Pool badge pick-up will be at 205 Claremont Avenue.


The tennis courts at Mountainside, Nishuane and Canterbury Park opened March 7, 2022. The Rand tennis courts have been converted into a temporary skate park.

Tennis play is available from dawn to dusk at the three locations.

Montclair High School Varsity/JV tennis teams are permitted to use all the courts at Mountainside on Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. from March 11 through May 27. 2022.

Resurfacing of the Nishuane tennis courts will take place sometime in late spring/summer. During the time of the renovations, the Nishuane courts will be closed and reopened when work is completed.

Tennis Permits Now Required on Municipal Courts

Township residents will need to obtain tennis permits which will be required for play on municipal courts at Mountainside, Rand, Canterbury and Nishuane parks beginning May 3, 2021. Residents (ages 5-adult) may apply for a FREE 2021 tennis permit through the Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs. Proof of residency is required.

Montclair Tennis Permit holders will be allowed one (1) out-of-town guest for court play. Covid-19 Rules and restrictions must be followed – they are posted at the tennis courts.

  • All players must have their tennis permits when using the facilities.
  • NO PRIVATE PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION is permitted at any time.
  • Group lessons are under the direction of the Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs.
  • Court usage is limited to one hour of play.
