MAU Names Ashley Vegliante EMS Chief

The MAU veteran is the first woman to hold the organization's leadership role

The Montclair Ambulance Unit (MAU) announced the appointment of Ashley Vegliante as Chief of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) earlier this month. Previously the Lieutenant of EMS Operations at MAU, Vegliante brings nearly 15 years of emergency service experience to her new role as the first female EMS Chief in the 66-year history of the MAU.

“I’m incredibly honored and excited to lead the men and women of the Montclair Ambulance Unit in providing exceptional service to all members of our dynamic Montclair community,” said Vegliante. “We plan to expand MAU’s presence with youth and adult health, wellness and other educational programs and outreach while maintaining a skilled and professional staff of first responders to save and sustain lives.”

Chief Vegliante will work closely with MAU’s recently appointed Executive Director, Diane Esty, who was hired to oversee the Unit’s business operations and fund raising after prior positions at The Montclair Foundation and Girl Scouts of New Jersey.

The Montclair Ambulance Unit is Montclair’s 9-1-1 emergency medical service providing professional, responsive, patient-first care since 1953. Residents are not charged for services out-of-pocket; we are funded solely by community generosity, in addition to private and government insurance reimbursement only. MAU is a 501c3 organization, all donations are tax deductible under the law.
