Newark, N.J. -- Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) announced today that it is completing a number of electric system upgrades that will improve reliability for Montclair customers.

These improvements include replacement of older wiring and utility poles. Additionally, trees are being trimmed to avoid contact with electric lines and resulting power outages.

The work is taking place in backyards east of Yantacaw Brook Park, off Yantacaw Brook Road. The first phase of work will see PSE&G representatives going door to door to speak with homeowners about the upgrade work. This will be ongoing through Januar, 2018. Tree trimming and pole installations will be done over the course of the next year, block by block.

PSE&G representatives are going door-to-door to speak with residents about the anticipated tree trimming and pole replacements, which will be approximately five feet higher than the existing 30-foot poles, and to answer any residents’ concerns. This work will improve system reliability and help prevent electric outages for years to come.

PSE&G employees would like to thank all Montclair residents and township officials for their patience as the utility completes this important work.

Residents with any questions or concerns should call 866-321-1699.
