The Township is awaiting the County's certification of the 2026 tax rate and cannot calculate final tax amounts until it is received. As a result, the mailing of tax bills is delayed. The standard 10-day grace period will be extended, and the revised deadline will be printed on your tax bill. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Parks are closed to the public between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. except with a permit. Carey's Woods in Nishuane Park, Mountainside Park Nature Trail Center, and Alonzo Bonsai Wildlife Preserve close at sundown.
A permit must be obtained for any organized activity in the parks. Contact the Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs at 973-509-4915.
Cooking is not permitted in township parks.
Glass containers are not permitted in parks - they may not be carried or used.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
As per Township Code 82-13, dogs are not permitted to be off-leash in any Township parks, except in areas specifically designated as a dog park.
Additionally, as per Essex County's rules and regulations,dogs are not permitted to be off leash in any County parks. To report a problem in Essex County parks, please contact Essex County Sheriff at 973-621-4111 or use their online "Report a Problem" form.
