2024-2025 
From 2024-2025, the township installed a number of traffic safety improvements, which you can find on one of the maps below. The improvements include: 

  • 6 new push-button flashing pedestrian lights
  • 14 new multi-way stop intersections
  • reflective traffic posts in 38 locations
  • 2 intersections with painted curb extensions
  • 1 new traffic signal with enhanced pedestrian safety features
  • 6.7 miles of Township roadways resurfaced and repainted

Ongoing Speed-Reducing Studies: The Township is actively conducting several speed-reducing studies at priority locations throughout the township in 2025. In addition, Essex County is is the process of upgrading county road intersections. Below you can find a map of the current studies in Montclair.

Interactive Traffic Safety Map: The Township has also created an interactive map for traffic safety in Montclair, where you can filter out several "layers" to see the data relevant to you. You can see specific layers such as multi-way stop intersections, crossing guard locations, crash data from recent years, and more. Click here to access the map.
