Traffic Improvements: From 2024-2025, the township installed a number of traffic safety improvements, which you can find on one of the maps below. The improvements include: 

• 6 new push-button flashing pedestrian lights
• 14 new multi-way stop intersections
• reflective traffic posts in 38 locations
• 2 intersections with painted curb extensions
• 1 new traffic signal with enhanced pedestrian safety features
• 6.7 miles of Township roadways resurfaced and repainted

Ongoing Speed-Reducing Studies: The Township is actively conducting several speed-reducing studies at priority locations throughout the township in 2025. In addition, Essex County is is the process of upgrading county road intersections. Below you can find a map of the current studies in Montclair.

Interactive Traffic Safety Map: The Township has also created an interactive map for traffic safety in Montclair, where you can filter out several "layers" to see the data relevant to you.
