December 31, 2024 - January 7, 2025

Theft

January 5, 2025 (Valley Road): An employee of King’s Supermarket reported that he was walking around the store and observed a male walking towards the exit doors with a cart full of meat products. The male was followed outside and was observed placing some items from his vehicle back into the shopping cart. He fled south on Valley Road. It was unknown how much proceeds the suspect got away with.

Burglary

January 6, 2025 (Summit Avenue): The resident reported that he was awoken at approximately 3:45 AM by the sound of a car door closing. When he went downstairs to investigate, he discovered his home had been burglarized. The suspects gained entry through a first-floor bathroom window. Once inside the home, the suspects located the keys to the resident’s 2020 BMW X5 and 2017 BMW X5. The suspects then fled the scene, taking both of the resident’s vehicles. The 2017 BMW was abandoned the following day in Irvington, NJ after being involved in a single car accident.

Motor Vehicle Crime

January 6, 2025 (Gates Avenue): The resident reported that their 2022 BMW X7 was stolen from their driveway during the overnight hours. GPS last pinged the vehicle to Newark, NJ.

Arrest

January 2, 2025 (Valley Road): A 36-year-old female from Verona, NJ was charged with shoplifting from Quick Check on Valley Road.

 

January 7, 2025 - January 14, 2025

Burglary

January 7, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): Employees of Firestone Complete Auto Care reported a burglary to their business. They reported that they arrived at the business at 6:15 AM and discovered the rear door to the business was open. During a tire transfer later in the day, they discovered approximately eighteen tires missing from the business. Upon checking the surveillance, they discovered a white Ford van occupied by two males pulled into the business after hours. It appears that entry into the business was through a hatch on the roof.

January 13, 2025 (Midland Avenue): The building superintendent reported that a burglary occurred between January 10, 2025 and January 13, 2025. Entry appears to have been gained through a first-floor rear window that was left unlocked. At the time of the report, there were no reported proceeds.

Theft

January 8, 2025 (Valley Road): Acme Supermarket reported two incidents of shoplifting. The first was reported on January 8th where store employees reported a habitual shoplifter stole $700.00 worth of meat over two days. He was described as a white male in his forties, standing 5’09” tall. The second incident, reported January 13th, where a white female entered the store and stole $160.00 worth of cosmetics, cold medicine and crab cakes.

 

January 14, 2025 - January 20, 2025

Burglary 

January 14, 2025 (Heller Drive): The resident reported that when she woke up and went downstairs, she observed an open window, multiple kitchen drawers open and her purse missing. The residents then discovered that their 2025 BMW X6 was missing from their garage and a 2021 BMW X5 was missing from the driveway. Security footage shows two males entering the home from the rear at 5:08 AM. They were dropped off by a white sedan.

Motor Vehicle Crime

January 16, 2025 (North Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reported that he had just pulled up to a work site and was unloading tools from a trailer. While walking from the rear yard back to the trailer, he observed his truck and the trailer drive off south on North Fullerton Avenue. His truck was described as a green Toyota Tundra. The trailer contained approximately $5,000 worth of tools. The trailer was recovered later in the day in Clifton, NJ. The truck was recovered the following day in New York City.

January 18, 2025 (Upper Mountain Avenue): The resident reported that he was awoken at 2:00 AM by his security system alerting him to motion on his property. Upon investigating, he discovered that his 2024 Kia was no longer in his driveway. The suspect(s) left a 2022 Honda Pilot behind in its place. The Honda was determined to be stolen from Paramus, NJ.

Arrests

January 14, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 44-year-old male from Newark was charged with Assault stemming from a disturbance on Bloomfield Avenue. He was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest and Throwing Bodily Fluid at an officer after spitting on an officer’s face during arrest.

January 18, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 32-year-old male from Paterson, NJ was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest following a dispute on Bloomfield Avenue

 

 

 

 

 

January 28, 2025 - February 4, 2025

Motor Vehicle Crime

January 29, 2025 (Lexington Avenue): The complainant reported that his 2021 Dodge Durango was entered during the day. A black Louis Vuitton backpack was removed. The backpack reportedly contained seven iPhones. Surveillance footage shows a dark colored sedan park in front of the complainant’s residence at 3:00 PM. A male exits from the passenger side and is seen entering the victim’s car, removing the bag.

January 31, 2025 (Willowmere Avenue): The resident reported that his 2017 Honda Pilot was stolen from his driveway during the early morning hours. The resident was warming his car up before leaving for work. When he walked out to the car his observed it driving away north on Willowdale Avenue. It was recovered the following day in Newark.

Theft

January 31, 2025 (Walnut Street): The resident reported that he ordered a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G on Amazon. He received an alert that the phone was delivered. Upon checking his porch, he discovered the package was gone.

Arrest

January 31, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 29 year-old male from Montclair was charged with Criminal Mischief following a dispute on Bloomfield Avenue.
