July 7, 2026 - July 14, 2026

Theft

July 7, 2026 (Claremont Avenue): Management at CVS on Claremont Avenue reported that a male and female suspect entered the store at 11:45 PM. The male was described as wearing a black hat, gray shirt and black pants. The female was possibly Hispanic wearing a gray sweatshirt and black shorts. Shortly after they entered the store, the male was observed filling a bag with items off a shelf while the female stood watch. Both parties then proceeded to exit the store and entered a blue Toyota Camry. The vehicle was parked facing south on Pine Street, north of Claremont Avenue. The suspects then proceeded to travel south bound on Pine at a high rate of speed. Proceeds from the theft were approximately $450.00 worth of merchandise.

July 8, 2026 (Church Street): The complainant reported that she was tending to Benvenuti Ice Cream Shop by herself. She reported that she walked to the back kitchen to do dishes while there were no customers inside. After a few minutes she saw there was someone inside the main area of the store, so she excited the kitchen and observed a suspect leaning over the counter. The suspect then quickly turned and exited the store in an unknown direction. The complainant then noticed that the cash register was now open, which was not when she walked to the back and was now missing a large amount of bills. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, thin build, short hair in twists or curls, about 5'10'' and wearing a red shirt.

Burglary

July 10, 2026 (Church Street): The complainant reported that an unknown male entered the construction site of 65 Church Street by entering through an open area of the gated fence. At approximately 11:07 PM the suspect breached the eight-foot-high wooden security fence nearest the main door into the retail area. He then entered an office by pushing in the air condition unit. He then fled the area without taking anything. The male suspect could be described as a male, bald head, heavy build, wearing black pants and a white short sleeve T-shirt, dark colored boots.

Arrest

July 7, 2026 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 28-year-old female from Montclair was charged with Resisting Arrest and Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer. Officers were originally called to a Bloomfield Avenue address for an unwanted party. During the on-scene investigation, the female struck the officer and resisted arrest.

 

July 14, 2026 - July 21, 2026

Theft

July 14, 2026 (Valley Road): Employees at Kings reported that two males entered the store together and were observed placing several meat items into their carts. The males then separated. One male was then observed in the self-checkout aisle “pretending” to scan his items. He then placed a bag over the unscanned items. Both suspects were able to leave the store with their unpaid items and were last seen walking north on Valley Road. Suspect one was described as a white male in his mid-twenties, approximately 5'5" tall with a slim build. He was wearing a blue Emirates Adidas shirt, black pants, black sneakers, and was carrying a shopping bag. Suspect two was described as a white male in his fifties, approximately 5'5" tall with a medium build. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a dark gray hat, a gray shirt, and dark shorts.

July 14, 2026 (Valley Road): Employees reported two females entered the CVS with empty CVS bags. Both females then walked to the register with a couple of items, but the empty CVS bag was now full of merchandise. They exited the store and walked south on Valley Road towards Acme. Suspect one was described as a black female, approximately 5'5" tall with a slim build. She was wearing a white shirt, grey pants and was carrying a shopping bag. Suspect two was described as a black female, approximately 5'5" tall with a medium build. She was wearing a white shirt and black pants and was carrying a shopping bag.

Burglary

July 17, 2026 (Park Street): At 3:29 AM, Officers responded to a Park Street address on an activated alarm. The resident reported that her alarm was activated five minutes prior from her kitchen door. Officers observed damage to the kitchen door consisting of pry marks. The resident reported that her wallet that was located in the kitchen was now missing. The wallet was valued at $100 and contained $120 in cash as well as miscellaneous credit and debit cards.

Motor Vehicle Crime

July 17, 2026 (William Street): The victim reported that the rear passenger side window of her Subaru Impreza had been shattered. The vehicle had been parked from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM. A bag inside the vehicle had been rummaged through but it was unknown at the time of the report of anything was missing.

 

July 21, 2026 - July 28, 2026

Lewdness

July 21, 2026 (South Park Street): Officers responded to ‘16 Handles’ on a report of an indecent exposure. Employees of the business reported that a female individual entered the business and purchased a cup of frozen yogurt. The unidentified female told the employees that she did not have the money to pay for the yogurt. The employees told the female that she could not have the yogurt, and the unidentified female became irate. The female suspect exited the business, walked up to the glass window, and removed her pants showing her buttocks towards employees and customers inside. The unidentified female then turned around, pulled her pants down again, and exposed her genitalia toward everybody in the business. The suspect was described as a black female wearing black glasses and carrying two red bags.

Theft

July 22, 2026 (Valley Road): Loss Prevention at Acme reported a female entered the supermarket and walked to the ice cream aisle where she proceeded to fill a Marshalls shopping bag with twenty-seven pints of Haagan Daz ice cream (value $201.00). The suspect then bypassed the registers and left the store. Loss Prevention was able to stop the suspect in the parking lot. The suspect voluntarily turned over the bag of ice cream back to the employees. The bag also contained drug paraphernalia. The suspect was described as a white female between the age of fifty to sixty. She had a thin build with blonde/white hair, wearing a white tank top, dark pants, khaki shoes, and a makeshift tourniquet on her right bicep.

July 24, 2026 (Enfield Avenue): The owner of an Enfield Avenue address reported that they rent their property out through Air BnB. She reported the property was rented in the first week of July. When the owner returned to the property, she reported several items had been stolen. A locked closet had been unlawfully entered, and multiple designer clothing items and bags were missing.

Assault

July 24, 2026 (Trinity Place): The victim reported that he was sitting in front of the Salvation Army building when an individual approached him and punched him in the face, unprovoked. The victim suffered facial injuries and was transported to Mountainside Hospital for further medical treatment.

Burglary / Attempted Burglary

July 27, 2026 (Prospect Avenue): The resident reported that his detached garage was entered during the overnight hours. The suspect(s) entered the garage by breaking a windowpane on a side door to the garage. Once inside, the suspect(s) removed the victim’s 2026 Honda CRF150rb dirt bike, color red.

July 28, 2026 (Llewellyn Road): At approximately 1:15 AM, the resident, who was away from his home, reported seeing two masked individuals walking around his property via home surveillance. The suspects were wearing black and white sweat suits and were seen attempting to force the front door open. The suspects appeared interested in the 2024 BMW X6 and a 2025 Rivian R1S that were parked in the driveway. The suspects were unable to make entry and fled in an unknown direction.

 

 

July 28, 2026 – August 4, 2026

Theft

July 28, 2026 (Claremont Avenue): Three individuals entered the CVS Pharmacy and committed a shoplifting. Management reported that the three entered the store together. The first suspect stole five boxes of Melatonin, four 16oz bottles of 'Coca-Cola' and an unknown number of 'Vicks' ZzzQuil. The second suspect stole an undetermined amount of cereal while the third suspect stole an unknown amount of lotion. Suspect one was described as a short black male wearing a black bandana with printed white skulls, black t-shirt, black pants, black and white 'Nike' sneakers and carrying a blue bag. Suspect two was a black male wearing a black crossbody bag, white t-shirt, black pants, red and white sneakers carrying a blue 'Walmart' bag. Suspect three was a black male wearing a black zippered sweatshirt, black shirt, black pants and brown and white sneakers.

Assault

July 29, 2026 (Gordonhurst Avenue): Officers responded to the intersection of Gordonhurst Avenue and Park Street on a report of a “Road Rage” dispute. The dispute reportedly began when one driver began honking his horn at the driver of a black pickup truck. Both drivers exited their respective cars and engaged in a verbal argument which ultimately turned physical. The driver of the black pickup truck sustained a laceration to his chin and self-transported himself to Mountainside Hospital. The incident remains under investigation.

Arrests

July 29, 2026 (Orange Road): A 23-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, both of Montclair, were charged with Hindering Apprehension for providing an officer with incorrect pedigree information on a traffic stop.

August 2, 2026 (Valley Road): A 33-year-old male from Secaucus was charged with Eluding after fleeing a motor vehicle stop in his car.
