May 27, 2025 - June 3, 2025

Motor Vehicle Crime

May 28, 2025 (N Brookwood Drive): The resident reported that he discovered surveillance footage of an unknown person entering his vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 4:10 AM. The suspect appeared to be a male wearing a blue or black sweatshirt, pants, and gloves with white marking on them. A small amount of change was stolen.

June 2, 2025 (Summit Avenue): The resident reported that he was awoken at 3:10 AM by an alert of movement in his driveway. He then discovered two males standing next to his two vehicles parked in the driveway. The resident yelled to the suspects who ran to an awaiting vehicle and fled west towards Park Street. Responding patrol units intercepted the suspect vehicle, a 2021 Hyundai Elantra which was reported stolen out of Newark. The suspect vehicle eluded patrol and was last seen entering Bloomfield Township.

Burglary

June 2, 2025(Church Street): Officers responded to Chip City on an activated alarm. They observed the front door was open and the safe appeared to have been entered. Surveillance footage shows the suspect entered the store at approximately 2:30 AM. Once inside, the suspect reportedly removed $1750 from the safe before fleeing. The suspect appears to be a female wearing a black hooded sweatshirt over a maroon T-shirt, a light blue face covering, black pants, black sneakers with three white stripes.

Theft

June 1, 2025 (Summit Avenue): The victim reported that he was performing power washing services at a residence on Summit Avenue. While in the back of the home, a bright green Ryobi High Performance Power Washer was stolen from the front of the residence. The power washer was valued at $300.00.

Armed Robbery

June 1, 2025 (North Willow Street): The victim reported that she was walking her dog on North Willow Street when a dark Acura pulled up alongside her. Two males exited the vehicle and approached her. The driver remained in the vehicle. One of the males that exited the car brandished a handgun and demanded her belongings, specifically her jewelry. One of the suspects forcibly removed her necklace from her neck. The suspects then reentered the Acura and fled south towards Glenridge Avenue. The vehicle was recovered later in Jersey City, NJ and is connected to similar incidents in Union, Elizabeth, and Jersey City. June 3, 2025 – June 10, 2025

Burglary

June 4, 2025, 6:15 AM (Valley Road): Officers responded to Montclair Smoke Shop on an activated alarm. Responding officers discovered an open rear door that showed signs that it had been forced open. A check of the interior of the shop revealed multiple shelves had been disturbed. Surveillance video shows a single suspect approaching the rear door and throwing a rock through the window of the door. The suspect was seen on video inside removing multiple vapes and pods from the shelves. The suspect fled after being inside for approximately one minute. The suspect was wearing all black, a black mask, and gloves.

Theft

June 6, 2025, 9:05 PM (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reported that he placed his bicycle along a wall outside of a Bloomfield Avenue business. When he returned to it thirty minutes later, the bicycle was gone. He described it as a black Trek FX1 was white lettering and brown handlebar grips.

June 7, 2025, 4:00 PM (Upper Mountain Avenue): The complainant reported that while walking in the area of the Presby Iris Gardens, a black sedan pulled alongside of her. A female in the backseat of the vehicle exited and approached the victim. The female suspect reportedly stated, “It’s my birthday and I’m giving gifts to people”. The suspect then proceeded to place a necklace around the victim’s neck, returned to the sedan, and fled. The victim had the necklace appraised by a jeweler who advised her it was a fake. When the victim returned home, she discovered that a 14K gold necklace that she had been wearing was no longer on her neck. She believes the suspect was able to swap necklaces. The suspect was described only as an Asian female wearing a black dress.

Motor Vehicle Crime

June 7, 2025, 5:00 PM (South Park Street): The complainant reported that her 2023 Acura RDX was stolen while parked on South Park Street. It was recovered the following day in Newark.

Arrests

June 8, 2025, 12:00 AM (Bloomfield Avenue): A 35-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Defiant Trespass following a dispute on Bloomfield Avenue. June 9, 2025, 9:45 PM (Trinity Place): Officers on Trinty Place located a 2021 Toyota Venza reported stolen out of Jersey City. The operator, a 59-year-old male from Verona, was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Obstruction Administration of Law Enforcement.

 

June 10, 2025 - June 17. 2025

Burglary

June 12, 2025 (Alvin Place): The complainant reported that a Chevy Pickup Truck that was parked on her property was entered and vandalized. It appears that a large wooden log was used to break multiple windows as well as a portion of the windshield. The suspect(s) also broke off two locks to a nearby shipping container. Some of the items that were stored in the container were removed and scattered throughout the property.

Shoplifting

June 16, 2025 (Valley Road): While reviewing old store surveillance, employees at Acme discovered that two females had entered the store earlier in the day and removed $464.00 worth of merchandise. Both females entered the store together and proceeded to the beauty product aisle. There, they concealed numerous products in a bag and left the store fifteen minutes after entering. They fled in a black sedan. The suspects were described as one heavy set Hispanic female, approximately 5' 8", wearing a white jacket, gray sweatpants and a blue baseball cap. The second suspect was a thin black female, approximately 5' 4" with shoulder length black curly hair, wearing a blue jacket, white sweatpants and a white baseball cap.

Arrests

June 11, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): At approximately 12:43 PM, Officers responded to Al Bazaar Tobacco Shop on a report of a robbery that had just occurred. Responding officers arrived and found the victim, an employee of the tobacco shop, bleeding from the chest. The victim told officers that a young black male entered his store asking about specific merchandise. The male asked to see merchandise out of the case, specifically THC vape cartridges. When told that he needed to pay for the items in advance, the suspect became angry, and a verbal argument ensued. The suspect reached his arm over the counter into the glass case and grabbed several vape cartridges. The victim attempted to stop the suspect and a physical altercation ensued. The suspect pushed the victim against the door, brandished a large knife, and stabbed him in the chest. The suspect then fled the scene. Witnesses in the area advised officers that they observed the suspect running and provided a description and direction of flight. Officers and Detectives located the suspect fleeing in the area of Church Street and Trinity Place. The suspect, an 18- year-old male from Newark, was apprehended and charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon, and Shoplifting. He was in possession of the stolen proceeds. He was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility. The weapon was recovered in a nearby alleyway. The victim was transported by Montclair EMS to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson. He was treated and released later that day.

June 13, 2025 (Valley Road): A 48-year-old male from Newark was charged with Shoplifting from Kings Supermarket. Employees contacted the police after observing him leave the supermarket with over $500.00 in unpaid merchandise. Responding officers located him fleeing and placed him under arrest

 

 

 

 

June 17, 2025 - June 24, 2025

Theft

 June 17, 2025 (Valley Road): While reviewing surveillance footage, employees at Kings discovered that a shoplifting occurred the previous day. Two male suspects exited a black Dodge Ram and entered the supermarket. The suspects both took shopping carts and then split up. They exited the store at separate times with approximately $300 in stolen merchandise. The suspects were described as two Hispanic males, one in his thirties, the second in his forties. The first suspect had a black beard and was wearing a tan Nike hooded sweatshirt, a white and tan hat, black shorts, and white shoes. The second had glasses and a black beard.

June 23, 2025 (Valley Road): Employees at William Sonoma reported two suspects entered the store and inquired about coffee makers. As the employee turned his back on the suspect to check the inventory, the two suspects grabbed two espresso machines and ran out of the store. The suspects were described as two black males, approximately 5’08” tall. One suspect was wearing a hat and the second male had dreadlocks pulled up in a large ponytail.

Arrests

June 19, 2025 (Trinity Place): A 59-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Disorderly Conduct following a dispute on Trinity Place.

 

June 24, 2025 - July 1, 2025

Theft

June 24, 2025 (Orange Road): Staff at Montclair Pre-K reported the theft of a bench belonging to the school. Surveillance video shows a female enter the school parking lot and park her vehicle. She then takes a wooden table from the school grounds, placing it in her vehicle, and leaving. The table was a square blue wooden table with MPK written on it.

Burglary / Attempted Burglary

 June 25, 2025 (Valley Road): At approximately 12:40 AM, officers responded to a Valley Road residence on an alarm activation. The resident then contacted 911 to report that they located an open first floor window, which caused the alarm to activate. Responding officers discovered that the suspects had attempted to pull the screen out. It appears that the suspect(s) were not able to make entry, and the alarm caused them to flee. Clifton Police Department reported that a residence in their town also had a burglary attempt where three male suspects with a crowbar attempted to break into a residence. The suspects, wearing all black and ski masks, were utilizing a BMW X7 and a BMW X3 with no plates.

June 26, 2025 (Dodd Street): The resident stated that at approximately 5:15 AM, his dog began growling. Finding this behavior unusual, the resident proceeded downstairs to the kitchen area and discovered that a door which had a deadbolt and doorknob lock was unlocked. As the resident approached the door to secure it, he observed that one of the gates his driveway was open and that one of his vehicles, a 2024 blue Mercedes-Benz G550 was missing from the driveway. The suspects apparently made entry into the home from the rear door. Once inside, they located the keys to the Merecedes from a kitchen drawer. In addition, a purse belonging to a female resident was stolen from the kitchen. The Mercedes was recovered on June 28, 2025 on Jerome Avenue in Bronx, NY.

Motor Vehicle Crime

June 26, 2025 (Park Street): The victim reported that three individuals had just stolen his 2014 Infiniti Q50 while it was parked on Park Street, near the North Fullerton Parking Lot. Two males entered the vehicle and fled with it north on Park Street. The victim was able to grab the arm of the third suspect. A responding officer arrived, and the third suspect fled on foot. He was pursued but eventually lost in the area of Glenridge Avenue and Forest Street. The Infiniti was recovered the following day in Newark.

Arrests

June 24, 2025 (Elm Street): A 27-year-old male from Newark was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Hindering Apprehension following a motor vehicle stop.

June 28, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 35-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Defiant Trespass following a dispute on Bloomfield Avenue.

June 29, 2025 (Bellevue Avenue): A 19-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Criminal Trespass after being located in Buzz Aldrin School after hours.
