Theft
November 4, 2025 (North Mountain Avenue): The complainant reported that his son’s electric bicycle was stolen at some point between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The bicycle was left unattended during this time. It was reported to have custom blue pedals and worth approximately $3200.00.
November 8, 2025 (Claremont Avenue): Employees at CVS on Claremont Avenue reported that while conducting an inventory of merchandise in the beauty section, they discovered a shortage. After making the discovery, they checked the store’s surveillance system and discovered two individuals had stolen the merchandise the day prior. A female suspect is seen placing the items into a bag and her clothing while a male suspect acts as a lookout. The male suspect is described as a light skinned male, with short dark hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a white undershirt, gray sweatpants and white sneakers. The female suspect is described as a light skinned female, with dark hair tied up in a bun, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with Abercrombie & Fitch markings going down the left sleeve, a dark quilted backpack, light colored sweatpants and dark slip-on type shoes. The total amount of proceeds believed to be stolen was $1200.00.
November 5, 2025 (Valley Road): An individual entered Mercado and ordered two smoothies and a banana totaling $20.00. The suspect paid for the items with a counterfeit $100.00 bill and received $80.00 in change. He fled the store with his change. The individual can be described as dark-skinned male with black hair. The individual was wearing a brown north face jacket and gray sweatpants. He advised the cashier that his name is "Jay" for the order.
Attempted Burglary
November 8, 2025 (Park Street): The residents reported that their dog began barking incessantly at approximately 10:00 PM. It was at this time that an unknown individual attempted to open the front door. The homeowner went to the door to investigate and observed the suspect fleeing his property, south on Park Street. The only description was that he was wearing all dark clothing.
Robbery
November 8, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim reported that he was on the #34 New Jersey Transit bus from Orange to Montclair. He stated that there were two males on the bus during the ride that were “sizing him up”. Feeling uneasy, the victim got off the bus at Bloomfield Avenue and Lackawanna Plaza. The two males followed him off the bus. It was at this time that one of the suspects hit the victim from behind on the right shoulder. The victim fell to the ground and the suspects robbed him of his cash. The suspects fled on foot east on Bloomfield Avenue. The victim went into Dunkin Donuts to report the incident. The victim described the two suspects as both dark skin black males both wearing dark baseball caps and dark jackets. One suspect was heavier than the other, with the smaller of the two wearing blue jeans and they both had facial hair.
Arrest
November 8, 2025 (Orange Road): A 30-year-old male from East Orange was charged with Simple Assault following a dispute on Orange Road.
