Theft

September 23, 2025 (Valley Road): Employees at Kings Supermarket reported a shoplifting occurred. A Hispanic male and a Hispanic female entered the supermarket and began concealing meat products inside of a purse. They then left the store through separate doors and fled the scene in a silver Honda Sedan with a temporary registration.

September 25, 2025 (Claremont Avenue): Employees at CVS reported that a male entered the store and proceeded directly to the deodorant aisle. He then removed a reusable bag from his pants and filled it with a large quantity of deodorant. He then changed his clothing in the parking lot of the complex and was last seen walking south on Pine Street. The suspect is a black male approximately 5'6-5'10 tall with a slim build. He is approximately 30-40 years of age and was wearing a dark colored baseball cap, dark colored T-shirt with "CHUCKY" written in red atop a large facial photo of a "Chucky doll", dark colored cargo pants, light colored sneakers, carrying a pink tote bag. Upon exiting the store, suspect changed into a light green sweatshirt with light colored writing across the front.

Burglary

September 23, 2025 (Nassau Road): The resident reported that his home was entered and a television was damaged. He reported that the residence was vacant between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM at which time an unknown person(s) entered the home through an unlocked front door. Nothing appeared missing at the time of the report however a television in his daughter” bedroom had been “smashed”.

September 25, 2025 (Park Street): The resident reported that his home was burglarized during the overnight hours. He stated that when he woke up, he discovered a statue in his back sunroom was on the floor. He also discovered a back door slightly ajar and a window open with the screen pushed in. He reported that approximately $400.00 was taken from a purse.

Dispute

September 28, 2025 (North Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reported that he engaged in a verbal altercation with another motorist over a parking space at the North Fullerton Parking Deck. Both motorists exited their vehicles and continued arguing. The complainant reported that he second male then took out a canister of pepper spray and sprayed it towards his face. The suspect then got back into his vehicle and was last seen south towards Bloomfield Avenue.

Arrests

September 26, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): An officer walking a foot patrol along Bloomfield Avenue observed two men involved in a physical dispute at Bloomfield Avenue and South Park Street. The two men were physically assaulting each other with a crowd watching. The officer was able to separate the two men. Both men, a 35-year-old from Montclair and a 56-year-old from Orange were arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

September 19, 2025 (Marion Road): A 16-year-old male from Newark and an 18-year-old male from Newark were each charged with Burglary and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary after an investigation into a May 2025 residential Burglary that occurred on Marion Road.

Criminal Mischief

September 16, 2025 (Walnut Street): Employees at Palazzo Pasta Company reported two males shattered the front door to the restaurant. The suspects possibly used a porcelain vase to break the window and then began yelling at customers. The two suspects were described by witnesses as a heavyset black male wearing a colorful tie-dye t-shirt (Suspect 1) and a black male wearing a brown colored shirt (Suspect 2).

Theft

September 17, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): Employees at Whole Foods reported that they observed a habitual shoplifter enter the market and began concealing several groceries inside of her bags. The suspect had previously been trespassed from the store. When advised by the store that she needed to leave, she left with a cart full of items. The suspect was be described as an elderly, thin, black female, with short hair, wearing a brown baseball cap. She was last seen walking on Bell Street.

September 22, 2025 (Claremont Avenue): Employees at CVS Pharmacy reported a male entered the store and stole over $600 in merchandise. The male entered the store at 6:20 AM and proceeded to steal 126 articles of deodorant. He was described as a black male, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, dark long pants, white sneakers, and holding a light brown canvas bag.

Arrests

September 16, 2025 (Seymour Street): A 42-year-old male from Brooklyn. NY was charged with Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest following an altercation at the Wellmont Theater.

September 17, 2025 (Midland Avenue): A 44-year-old male and a 48-year-old male, both of Newark, were charged with Theft after officers observed them stealing used cooking oil from an area restaurant.

Theft

September 9, 2025 (Orange Road): An unknown person entered the mailroom of an Orange Road complex and reportedly removed the contents of several delivered packages. The suspect was seen on video loitering outside of the complex waiting for residents to leave so that he could make entry into the building. He was then seen entering the mailroom where he opened three packagers and left with the contents. The suspect was described as a black male, bald, approximately 5’10” tall, in his thirties, with a black beard. He was last seen walking north on Orange Road towards Bloomfield Avenue.

September 10, 2025 (Claremont Avenue): Employees at CVS on Claremont Avenue reported that a frequent shoplifter entered their store and stole approximately $1500.00 in merchandise. Surveillance video shows the suspect, a black male wearing a blue flannel shirt, jeans, white shoes, and black hat, walk into the store at approximately 9:24 PM. The suspect was seen walking around the store for approximately 10 minutes. At 9:34 PM, the suspect went into an aisle and began removing deodorant from the shelf and began putting them in his pants, and a bag. The suspect continued to do this until approximately 9:41 PM and left the store.

September 13, 2025 (Claremont Avenue): An additional theft at CVS was reported where a suspect entered the business and stole approximately $240.00 worth of vitamins. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hat, black shirt, light colored jeans and white sneakers carrying a blue bag around his torso.

Motor Vehicle Crime

September 12, 2025 (Lorraine Avenue): An employee of the United States Postal Service reported that he parked his truck on Lorraine Avenue and began delivering mail along his route. At some point during his route, he looked back at his vehicle and observed that the passenger side window was shattered, and the door was open. He reported that two full trays of mail and a small bundle were stolen. A witness reported observing a black four-door sedan idling beside the truck before fleeing at a high rate of speed.

Motor Vehicle Crime

September 4, 2025 (Sherman Street): The complainant reported that he parked his vehicle on Sherman Street and returned approximately eight hours later to discover that it had been entered and rummaged through. Multiple items were reported stolen including cash, sunglasses, airpods, a Gameboy, an Apple watch, and debit cards.

Theft

September 5, 2025 (Harrison Avenue): The victim reported that he was walking his dog on Harrison Avenue when a dark colored sedan pulled up alongside of him. As the vehicle stopped a woman came out from the back seat of the vehicle offering the victim jewelry, specifically a ring and a necklace. When the victim refused, the woman continued to attempt to sell him the jewelry and attempted to put the necklace around the victim’s neck. In doing so, she was able to remove the necklace the victim was already wearing. The vehicle fled before the victim realized his necklace had been stolen. The necklace was described as a gold chain with an eagle pendant.

Arrests

September 2, 2025 (Valley Road): A 57-year-old female from Montclair was charged with Shoplifting from Kings Supermarket.

September 2, 2025 (Porter Place): At approximately 6:33 PM, MPD Officers were dispatched to a Porter Place residence on a report of a motor vehicle theft in progress. Responding officers were flagged down on Harrison Avenue by a pedestrian who stated that the resident was chasing the suspect on foot south on Harrison Avenue. The resident was located and provided officers with a description of the suspect, who was last seen in the area of Harrison Avenue, Gates Avenue, Cross Street, and Orange Road. Officers established a perimeter around the area, specifically concentrating in the area of the complex at 125 Gates Avenue and 111 Gates Avenue. The suspect was located by MPD Officers hiding behind a shipping container in the rear of the Montclair Care Center.

The victim advised officers that the suspect was seen inside of their 2025 Hyundai SUV. When confronted, he fled on foot. In addition, the suspect reportedly stated, "If you don't stop following me, I'm going to shoot you".

The suspect, a 24-year-old male from Newark, was charged with Burglary to a Motor Vehicle and Robbery. He was also found to be in possession of items reported stolen from East Orange and West Orange. In addition to the Montclair charges, the suspect had open warrants from East Orange and the Union County Sheriffs Department.
