Montclair Fire Department Operational Review – 2026

In 2025, the Township of Montclair engaged NJ Community Solutions, LLC to conduct a comprehensive operational review of the Montclair Fire Department.

The study examined:

  • Organizational structure and staffing

  • Fire station locations and response times

  • Service demand levels and emergency incident history

  • Fire prevention operations

  • Shared services with Glen Ridge

  • Facilities, training, and long-term planning considerations

The final report was presented to the Mayor and Council in January 2026.

Following review of the report and in consideration of 2026 budget constraints, the Township Manager issued a memorandum on February 5, 2026, regarding departmental staffing levels and apparatus deployment.
