Drought Warning
The Montclair Water Bureau would like to remind residents that the Drought Warning put into effect by Governor Phil Murphy and the NJDEP on 11/13/24 is still in effect. The Water Bureau is asking residents to do their part to keep water use to a minimum. The following measures should be taken:
Check For Leaks:
- Regularly check faucets, toilets, and pipes for leaks
- Check your water meter over a one-hour period while no water is being used.
- If the meter changes at all, there may be a leak.
Adjust Outdoor Watering
- Reduce the duration of watering.
- Water plants with a watering can.
- Consider installing a WaterSense approved sprinkler system.
Make Water-Saving Improvements
- Consider installing water and energy efficient devices.
- Products and services that have earned the WaterSense label have been certified to be at least 20% more efficient.
Use Water Wisely
- Run dishwasher and clothes washers only when they are full. If you have water-saver cycle, use it.
- Adjust the water level in the washing machine to match the load.
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth.
