Appliances

For most small household appliances:

For most household appliances ("white goods"), residents can simply call the Department of Community Services (DCS) at (973) 509-5711. They will make an appointment with you for curbside collection. On the evening before that date you bring the appliance to the curb, and it will be collected as scheduled.

Household Appliances (sticker required):

This category includes appliances containing refrigerants: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers.

Residents must first come to the Department of Community Services/Public Works (219 No. Fullerton Avenue) on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. to purchase a $10 sticker and have the DCS staff set your collection appointment. The charge offsets the cost of having the refrigerants removed by a state-certified technician. Upon returning home, place the sticker on the appliance and bring it to the curb on the evening before your scheduled date, and it will be collected as scheduled.

If you have a working refrigerator/freezer, PSE&G will take it away without charge and will later send a rebate to you.
