August 25, 2020 – September 1, 2020

Robbery

August 25, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim reported that while walking in the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Pine Street, an unknown suspect approached her from behind grabbed her pocketbook. The victim struggled with the suspect, who knocked her to the ground. The victim began to scream which caused the suspect to flee south towards Glenfield Park. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6'00" tall, approximately 18 to 19 years of age, thin build, with no facial hair, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and shoes.

Theft

August 27, 2020 (Franklin Avenue): The complainant reports that an electric bicycle was stolen from his rear yard during the afternoon hours. The bicycle was reportedly locked at the time of the theft. The responding officer located the bike abandoned on Fremont Street in West Orange and returned it to the victim.

August 29, 2020 (Gates Avenue): The victim reported that his 2009 Toyota Camry was stolen from the rear parking lot during the overnight hours.

August 29, 2020 (Nishuane Road): The complainant reported that an unknown person entered two of his vehicles that were parked in his driveway during the overnight hours. Approximately $15.00 in change was stolen from one of the cars. A surveillance camera affixed to the garage shows a black male, no further description, enter the vehicle at approximately 1:30 AM.

August 30, 2020 (Orange Road): A 2008 Acura TL was stolen from the victim’s driveway during the overnight hours.

August 30, 2020 (Harrison Avenue): The resident reported that an Amazon package that had been delivered to his home was stolen. Surveillance cameras depict an older black or hispanic male, wearing a black cap, black shirt and black pants with black and red sneakers take the package. In the video the suspect is seen walking up the driveway and after grabbing the package, the suspect is seen exiting, possibly heading north on Harrison Ave.

Burglary

August 31, 2020 (Franklin Place): The complainant reported that a vacant residence currently under renovation was entered. Approximately $10,000 worth of copper piping was removed from the basement. In addition, the suspect(s) stole an air conditioner, three saws, and a ladder.

Vandalism

August 25, 2020 (Orange Road): Officers on foot patrol observed vandalism in the south end business district. The first two markings were observed on a PSE&G pole. It stated "SARP" in white ink and what appeared to be "STGE" in white ink. The second marking was on a wooden fence. Several other illegible markings were observed in blue ink around the business center.

Suspicious Activity

August 28, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The resident reported that while sitting in his dining room, an unknown person walked into his apartment. Upon seeing the resident, the suspect left. He was described as a white male, approximately 6’00” tall, wearing a white mask.

August 30, 2020 (Pleasant Avenue): A resident of Pennsylvania contacted this agency and reported observing an unknown person attempting to open the door to his mother’s residence in Montclair on his surveillance camera. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a blue t-shirt, watch, and a medical mask. Entry was not gained.

August 31, 2020 (Glenridge Avenue): The security guard at Pineridge of Montclair reported observing 5-6 males attempting to open several vehicles parked in the parking lot. When confronted, the males fled. They were said to be between 17 and 20 years of age.

Arson

August 28, 2020 (Saint Lukes Place): At approximately 11:59 pm, police responded to the area of 7 St. Lukes Place on a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, they found a 2010 Toyota Corolla fully engulfed in flames as well as a 2014 Range Rover that had fire damage. This is an active investigation between the Montclair Police and Fire Departments and as such no further details can be released at this time.

Dispute

August 26, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Patrol responded to the Dunkin Donuts on Bloomfield Avenue on a report of a physical altercation. The manager reported that between 6-7 female juveniles entered the store and requested free donuts. The manager reported that they were not wearing masks, and became unruly. When asked to leave, the group became abusive. One female assaulted the manager while another attempted to get behind the counter. Two customers observed the altercation and attempted to intervene. The females reportedly attacked the customers before fleeing towards Church Street. No injuries were reported.

August 28, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Patrol responded to Antika Grill on a report of a physical dispute. A physical altercation began between two groups of tables which resulted in property damage to several plates and glasses. Two patrons sustained lacerations to their feet as a result of the broken glass and minor scratches.

Arrests

August 25, 2020 (Maple Avenue): A 17 year old juvenile male from Montclair was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Obstruction by Flight, and Possession of marijuana after running from officers who were investigating an earlier reported theft.

August 25, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue / Glenridge Avenue): Mr. Daron Allen (40 y/o from Newark, NJ) was arrested and charged with two counts of Burglary and Criminal Mischief stemming from an earlier reported burglary to motor vehicles at Saint Luke’s Church on South Fullerton Avenue.

August 30, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Mr. Fredy Amaya-Quevedo (39 year old, Bloomfield, NJ) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.

August 30, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Mr. Gerald Holt (31 y/o, Newark, NJ) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.

Thefts

September 2, 2020 (Gordonhurst Avenue): The complainant reports that a package containing $84 in merchandise was stolen from his porch.

September 2, 2020 (Norwood Avenue): The caller reports that a black 2016 Infiniti Q70 was stolen. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside prior to the theft.

September 2, 2020 (North Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reports that a bag of clothing was stolen from her motor vehicle.

September 4, 2020 (Nishuane Road): The complainant reports that a package containing $39 in merchandise was stolen from the rear of her residence.

September 5, 2020 (Greenwood Avenue): The victim states that someone had rummaged through his motor vehicle.

September 7, 2020 (Fortunato Field): The complainant reports that her son’s bicycle was stolen.

September 7, 2020 (Hawthorne Place): The victim reports that his wallet was stolen from inside his motor vehicle.

Burglary

September 4, 2020 (Miller Street): The complainant reports that someone had entered a basement and stole copper piping.

Bias

September 1, 2020 (Orange Road): While on patrol, police located a “PATRIOTFRONT.US” sticker on a street sign. This web site is associated with an American, white supremacist, Neo-Nazi and American Nationalist group.

September 2, 2020 (Elm Street): While on patrol, police located a “PATRIOTFRONT.US” sticker on a traffic pole. Similar stickers were found on Elm Street, Orange Road, and High Street, with some including the words “Better Dead Than Red,” and “America is not for Sale.”

Vandalism

September 4, 2020 (Wellesley Road): The complainant reports that names had been carved into freshly poured concrete in front of his residence.

September 5, 2020 (Glenfield Park): While on patrol, police located “FTP,’ “ACAB,” and “SKD” written on a trash can.

September 7, 2020 (Lincoln Street): The complainant reports that two rocks had been thrown at his residence, cracking the siding near the front door.

Arrests

September 3, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Claudio Quezada-Zumba, 38, of Belleville, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Thefts

September 8, 2020 (Lincoln Street): The victim states that a diamond ring valued at $1,000 was stolen from inside her motor vehicle.

September 9, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reports that he was approached b a person who asked him for a dollar at approximately 9:50 AM. When the complainant removed money from his pocket, the suspect grabbed the money and fled. The complainant reports that approximately $500 was stolen from him. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 23 years old, 5’11”, last seen wearing black shorts, a black t-shirt, and a black baseball cap.

September 10, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): The complainant reports that a license plate from his motorcycle was stolen.

September 11, 2020 (Montague Place): The complainant reports that a bicycle was stolen from his property.

Burglary

September 11, 2020 (Cedar Avenue): The complainant reports that $500 worth of tools was stolen from his enclosed porch.

September 12, 2020 (Orange Road): The complainant reports that a chandelier, an Amazon Firestick remote, and various prescription medications were stolen from her residence.

Arrests

September 12, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Moises Rodriguez, 35, of Belleville, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

September 13, 2020 (Glenridge Avenue): Tequaryn Warren, 47, of Montclair, was taken into custody after police learned that he had a warrant for his arrest.

September 14, 2020 (New Brunswick): Shakir Major, 33, of Woodbridge, was taken into custody after police learned that he had a warrant for his arrest.

Theft

September 16, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): The complainant reported a package containing a Miken Freak Primo softball bat valued at $180.00 that had been delivered to the residence was stolen.

September 16, 2020 (Bellevue Avenue): An employee of PSE&G conducting work in the area reported a red and black Dewalt tool box was stolen. The box contained approximately $350.00 worth of miscellaneous tools.

September 17, 2020 (North Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reported that the front tire and rim was stolen from his Multitrack Trek bicycle. The bike was reportedly locked. It was reported that the suspect also defecated on the bike prior to leaving.

September 17, 2020 (Sylvan Place): Two packages containing sneakers and cleaning products were stolen from the victim’s front porch. Surveillance images show the suspect to be a black male, medium to heavy set, unknown age, short black hair, wearing a light gray T-shirt and jeans. He fled in a silver Honda Civic bearing unknown New Jersey registration.

September 18, 2020 (William Street): The resident reported that his red and white framed Kolnago arte bicycle with red handle bars was stolen from the rear of his house. The bike had an estimated value of $1,700.00.

September 19, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): The manager of CVS Pharmacy reported that an unknown male entered the store and stole $344 worth of merchandise before fleeing in a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Montclair a day prior.

September 19, 2020 (Valley Road): A customer vising Quick Check reported locking his bicycle prior to entering the store. When he returned ten minutes later, he discovered the lock was cut and bicycle missing. It was described as a black older model ‘Nishiki’ mountain bike with a light on the right handle bar. It was valued at $350.00

Vandalism

September 18, 2020 (Valley Road): The manager of Valley National Bank reported the ATM machine had been vandalized on two occasions.

September 20, 2020 (North Willow Street): The complainant reported that two tires on his 2001 Acura were slashed. The vehicle was parked in his driveway.

Arrests

September 16, 2020: Rashad Black (33 year-old male, Hackensack, NJ) was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Burglary from an incident that occurred in January.

September 16, 2020 (South Willow Street): Patrol units responded to the construction site at Bloomfield Avenue and South Willow Street on a report of a male stealing copper piping. Officers located Jamal Quince McGhee (20 year-old, Montclair) on a nearby street who was in possession of a bundle of 18 copper pipes. McGhee was charged with burglary.

September 21, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): An officer located a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in the parking lot of CVS. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen from a Central Avenue residence on September 18, 2020. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle however it sped off and refused to stop. The officer followed the vehicle into Glen Ridge where a single occupant fled after driving down a dead-end street. Omar Williams (42 years old, Hamilton, NJ) was located hiding in bushes near the New Jersey Transit train tracks by Montclair and Glen Ridge Officers. Williams was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Eluding, Resisting Arrest, and shoplifting (from CVS).

September 22, 2020 – September 29, 2020

Burglary

September 23, 2020 (Woodland Avenue): The resident reported being awoken in the early morning hours by an unknown person reaching into her bedroom window attempting to remove her cellphone. The suspect was scared off and fled in an unknown direction. He could only be described as a white or light skinned male.

Theft from Motor Vehicles

September 23, 2020 (Washington Avenue): The resident reported that an unknown male had entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. Surveillance cameras depict the suspect enter the driver’s side door. Nothing appeared to be taken. A neighbor reported the same male attempt to enter his vehicles, however the doors were locked. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'11”-'6'2” in height, wearing a black Nike hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, white or gray sneakers, covering his face with a face mask that has a design.

September 25, 2020 (Glenridge Avenue): The resident reported parking her vehicle in the parking lot of her building at noon. When she returned at 7:30 AM the following day she discovered her Michael Kors purse had been removed. Entry appears to have been entered through a partially opened rear window.

Thefts

September 24, 2020 (Maple Avenue): The complainant reported that unknown person(s) removed credit/debit cards and cash from his wallet while he was playing basketball at Glenfield Park.  

September 25, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): The manager at CVS Pharmacy reported that an individual entered the store and stole approximately $80.00 worth of laundry products. The suspect was described as a tall, thin, black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, and dark sunglasses and was carrying a black backpack and white bag.

September 25, 2020 (Hilltop Place): The resident reported two packages, delivered on two different dates, were stolen from her front porch. Surveillance cameras reveal the suspect to be an unknown black male, wearing a black hat, glasses, black face mask with white lettering, light gray sweater, green pants, and a black and white backpack.

September 26, 2020 (Mission Street): The complainant reported that her white, Ancheer electric bicycle with black lettering, equipped with cloth saddle bags was stolen from a detached garage between 9 AM and 10 AM. The value is estimated at approximately $800.

September 26, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reported a white “Specialized” Mountain Bicycle with red lettering was stolen from outside of the Shell Gas Station. Surveillance cameras show a black male wearing a dark gray baseball cap, dark colored full zip jacket with while stripes along the full length of the sleeves, a light gray sweatshirt underneath the jacket, dark colored pants, light gray sneakers, and a blue backpack take the bike.

Motor Vehicle Theft / Recovery

September 26, 2020 (Union Street): The resident reported that his 2016 Ford Escape was stolen from his driveway between 3AM and 8AM. The vehicle was recovered on September 27, 2020 in Newark, NJ.

September 25, 2020 (Sylvan Place): A 2002 Ford Explorer reported stolen from New York City was recovered parked and unoccupied by a patrol officer.

September 27, 2020 (Mission Street): A 2020 Toyota Rav reported stolen from Bloomfield, NJ was recovered parked and unoccupied by a patrol officer.

Vandalism

September 26, 2020 (Union Street): The resident reported that the front passenger side window of his vehicle was shattered by a rock. There was no surveillance or suspects identified.  

Robbery

September 28, 2020 (South Park Street): Patrol responded to the area of South Park Street on a report of an assault in progress. They located the victim suffering from facial injuries. The victim reported being assaulted and a bottle of alcohol was stolen from him. Officers located and arrested Darren Allen (40y/o male, Newark, NJ). Allen was charged with Robbery.

September 22, 2020 (Park Street): Wesley Bradford (39y/o, Jersey City) was arrested and charged with Defiant Trespass.

September 24, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Jaime Montalvo (40 y/o, Newark) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.

September 27, 2020 (Chestnut Street): Victor Rendon-Vera (44 y/o, Jersey City) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.
