Motor Vehicle Crime

August 5, 2025 (Nishuane Road): The complainant reported that his 2008 Volkswagen was entered during the overnight hours. The interior was rummaged through with the contents of the glove compartment and center console scattered throughout. A small amount of cash was stolen from within.

August 7, 2025 (Nassau Road): A letter carrier for the US Postal Service reported that he was delivering mail on Nassau Road when he was flagged down by one of the residents advising him that his Postal truck had been broken into. Upon returning to his truck, he discovered that the passenger side window was broken, and the same door was ajar. Two trays of mail were stolen as well as the letter carriers bagged lunch. A witness reported that he was inside of his home when he heard a loud bang. He stated the noise can be best explained as "a crowbar hitting the pavement." The witness went to his front door to look outside and observed a black hatchback, which he believed was a Mercedes Benz, parked directly in front of the mail truck. He stated that he also observed a male dressed in all black carrying something and throw it into the black sedan. He stated that male then entered the passenger side of the black sedan and fled the area towards Valley Road.

Theft

August 9, 2025 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reported that she went to see a movie at The Clairidge Theater and parked her Unagi electric scooter outside. The scooter was secured with a cable and lock. When she returned two hours later, the scooter had been stolen.

August 9, 2025 (Valley Road): Security personnel at Kings reported that on several occasions, the same male has entered the supermarket and stolen multiple items, usually steak. The total amount worth of steaks stolen is approximately $500.00. The suspect can be described as a white male, approximately 5'10"-6'00” tall, husky build, with facial hair. After the theft, he is usually seen walking south on Valley Road.

Attempted Burglary

August 10, 2025 (Highland Avenue): The resident reported that at approximately 6:00 AM, two individuals attempted to enter his home through a side sliding door. Once the suspects attempted to open the door, the resident’s dog entered the room and began to bark, causing both suspects the run away. The suspects entered a grey Audi Q7 that was waiting at the end of the driveway. The Audi was occupied by two additional males, which fled the scene. A responding detective observed the fleeing vehicle and determined it was a stolen vehicle from Belleville, NJ. It was last seen south on Mount Prospect Avenue in Verona.

Arrest

August 5, 2025 (Maple Avenue): An 18-year-old male from Newark was charged with Obstruction of Justice and Resisting Arrest.

August 17, 2025 (Grant Street): The complainant reported that she was sitting in her 2021 JeepCherokee in a parking lot on Grant Street. She observed a dark colored sedan pulling up next toher vehicle. Two males exited the rear of the sedan and approached her car. Both subjectsattempted to enter the complainant’s Jeep. The complainant yelled and both males retreated tothe dark sedan. They were last seen fleeing towards Sherman Street. Both suspects weredescribed as juvenile black males wearing black ski masks. The suspect who attempted to openher vehicle door was wearing a red sweatshirt with the hood pulled up.

August 17, 2025 (Oxford Street): Residents reported observing a red sedan travelling slowly up Oxford Street. The occupants of the red vehicle were seen exiting and approaching severalvehicles in different driveways and attempting to open the doors. Officers canvassing the arealocated two vehicles that appeared to have been entered. Stolen proceeds at this time werelimited to cash.

August 18, 2025 (Pine Street): The victim reported that he parked his vehicle on the third level of the Bay Street Parking Deck for the day. When he returned, he discovered that it had beenbroken into. Surveillance footage shows the suspect dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, blackshorts, black shoes, and gloves approaching the car and proceeds to cut a hole into the vehicle’ssoft top. The suspect subsequently mounts the car and reaches into the vehicle to unlock it.

August 18, 2025 (Hawthorne Place): The victim reported that he walked to his vehicle parked on Hawthorne Place and discovered the rear hatch and front passenger side door were open. Severalitems had been removed by the suspect(s) and placed on the grass beside his vehicle. Whiletaking the initial report, the reporting officer was approached by three additional victim’s, eachreporting that their vehicles were also burglarized.

August 18, 2025 (Orange Road): Four individuals were observed exiting a dark colored sedanand entering an Orange Road parking lot. They were observed entering a 2015 Audi and a 2013Honda. Both vehicles were rummaged through, but nothing was reported missing.

August 19, 2025 (North Fullerton Avenue): The resident reported that his 2020 Audi Q3 wasstolen from in front of his home during the overnight hours. An EZ Pass activation alerted himthat his vehicle entered the Garden State Parkway just after 3:00 AM.

Theft

August 26, 2025 (New Street): The complainant reported that three E-Bikes were stolen from the rear of his property. The bicycles were reportedly padlocked to a fence. The locks were also stolen.

August 26, 2025 (South Park Street): Employees at Urban Outfitters reported that a male and female entered the store and began placing several articles of clothing into a shopping bag. The suspects then ran from the store without paying. The female suspect was described as a black female with a heavy build, wearing a black t-shirt, black leggings with a pink stripe down the side, black curly hair, white sneakers, and a lip piercing. The male was described as a tall black male (approximately 6 feet tall), wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, prescription glasses, and medium length black dread locks. Approximately $900.00 in merchandise was stolen.

Motor Vehicle Crime

August 30, 2025 (Claremont Avenue): Officers responded to the CVS parking lot on a report of a vehicle parked in the pharmacy drive thru, preventing other vehicles from accessing the drive thru. Officers located an unoccupied 2024 Hyundai SUV and determined that it had been stolen from a Glenridge Avenue residence earlier in the day.

September 1, 2025 (Harrison Avenue): An officer patrolling Harrison Avenue located a parked and unoccupied Oldsmobile Cutlass that was reported stolen from Orange, NJ. The vehicle was subsequently impounded.

Arrests

August 26, 2025 (Church Street): A 27-year-old female from Montclair was charged with three counts of Criminal Mischief after she was observed damaging vehicles parked in the area of Church Street and South Park Street.
