March 6 is known as "Black Balloon Day", a national day of awareness that is used to remember those who have lost their lives to overdose, support families who have been impacted by substance use disorder, and to raise awareness for harm prevention.

The Township hosted an event at Montclair Town Hall, organized by the Essex Health & Wellness Recovery Center, the Health & Human Services Department, and the Mayors Wellness Campaign. Township staff and the public were invited to attend and raise awareness. The event featured a number of speakers, including Robin Lavorato, Executive Director of the Essex Health & Wellness Recovery Center, Mayor Baskerville, Montclair Chief of Police Todd Conforti, and Montclair Ambulance Unit Chief, James Lazza.

You can watch the full event on Montclair TV34 at Youtube here.
