Montclair rail commuters should be aware of major NJ TRANSIT service changes planned from October 11 through November 14 as Amtrak completes the final cutover to the new Portal North Bridge.
During this period (October 11 - November 14), Montclair-Boonton Line trains will not provide direct service to New York Penn Station on weekdays. Midtown Direct trains will instead operate to and from Hoboken Terminal.
For weekday travel between Hoboken and New York, NJ TRANSIT will cross-honor eligible rail tickets and passes on PATH between Hoboken and 33rd Street, NY Waterway ferry service between Hoboken and Midtown, and NJ TRANSIT Bus Route 126 between Hoboken and Port Authority.
Direct Montclair-Boonton Line service to and from New York Penn Station is scheduled to continue on weekends.
NJ TRANSIT advises riders to expect modified schedules, reduced service on some segments, longer travel times and potential crowding. Riders should check the special schedules and plan additional travel time before heading out.
