Crash/Injury Fatalities map

This Traffic Safety map showcases crash locations and volumes in Montclair from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023, highlighting areas of concern and identifying trends to enhance road safety across the Township. 

The Crash Points indicate the locations and severities of crashes that resulted in an injury, while the Crash Volumes data identifies high-crash road segments. For crash points, the size of the circle marking the crash corresponds to the severity of the crash, with the largest red circles representing fatal injury crashes. For crash volumes, roadway segments that are colored dark blue show areas with higher crash counts, while the lighter blue dashed line indicate areas with lower crash counts. 

The Disadvantaged Community Index provides context on socio-economic factors, with darker purple areas representing the most disadvantaged communities. The Index determines equity scores for census tracts in Montclair to highlight traditionally underserved populations. Each tract is evaluated across various demographic factors, including minority population, low income, Limited English Proficiency, disability, age, vehicle ownership, foreign-born population, gender, and education level. Tracts are scored from 0 (very below average) to 4 (very above average) based on how they compare to regional averages for each demographic factor. The total score for each tract ranges from 0 to 44, with higher scores indicating greater needs for equity support.
