Please read below for more information on the process for filling the vacancy on the Council: 

The petition filing deadline for the general election in November was August 21, 2025. Since the resignation occurred after the filing deadline for this year’s general election, the vacancy would not be filled until November 2026.

However, the governing body may still appoint someone to the vacant seat, and the term would not expire until the next general election (although making an appointment is not legally required).

The governing body has 30 days from the date of resignation (September 13, 2025) to make an appointment.

Should the governing body decide not to make an appointment within the next 30 days, the seat will remain vacant until the general election in November 2026.
