Theft

May 9, 2026 (Bloomfield Avenue): Employees at Smoothie King reported two males entered the store and stole a tip jar. The suspects were described as one being a tall skinny black male, with short dreads and all black clothing. The second suspect was described as a light skin black male in his twenties, approximately 5'8", wearing a black hat, gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The tip jar contained approximately $120.00.

Motor Vehicle Crime

May 10, 2026 (Bloomfield Avenue): Officers responded to Montclair Mobile Car Care on a report of a motor vehicle theft that just occurred. The victim reported that they were getting their Dodge Durango washed at the business. After the wash, the driver’s side door of the Durango was left open for car wash staff to get in. It was at this time that a tinted all black Mercedes Benz SUV pulled up to the driveway of the car wash. An individual, described only as a young light skinned black male, exited the Mercedes and immediately entered her Dodge Durango and closed the door. Both the Mercedes and the Durango fled east on Bloomfield Avenue. The Durango was recovered the following day in Newark.

Arrest

May 7. 2026 (Maple Avenue): A 23-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstruction following a dispute on Maple Avenue.

Theft

May 13, 2026 (Valley Road): Management at Kings Supermarket reported a repeat offender entered the supermarket the day prior and stole approximately $340.00 worth of steaks. He was described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 6 feet tall, in his thirties, 180lbs, with brown hair. He was said to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants.

May 17, 2026 (Claremont Avenue): Employees at CVS reported that they observed a male enter the store and began placing soaps and deodorants into his bag and hooded sweatshirt. The staff reported that they have seen the male in the past and that he is banned from the store. The approximate value of the deodorant is $70.00.

Motor Vehicle Crime

May 15, 2026 (Elm Street): An officer patrolling the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Elm Street observed a silver-colored BMW that was reported to be stolen out of Newark and wanted for a carjacking in Jersey City. The officer made an attempt to stop the BMW, however it accelerated and sped away. A brief motor vehicle pursuit ensued until the BMW entered Glen Ridge from Washington Avenue. The officer then ceased pursuing the vehicle.

On May 16, 2026, this same vehicle was involved in an attempted motor vehicle theft at the Montclair Auto Spa Car Wash on Bloomfield Avenue. An employee reported that a male exited the silver BMW and entered a BMW 4 series that had just finished being washed. The suspect was unable to take the second BMW because the engine was off and the key fob was not with the vehicle. The suspect then reentered the silver BMW and fled east on Bloomfield Avenue into Glen Ridge.

Assault

May 16, 2026 (Columbus Avenue): At 8:40 PM, Montclair PD responded to the Emergency Room at Mountainside Hospital on a report of a juvenile who had been assaulted earlier in the evening. There, they met with a fourteen-year-old male from Montclair and his legal guardian.

The juvenile victim reported that he was riding his bicycle at approximately 7:00 PM in the area of Montclair Avenue, Columbus Avenue, and Essex Avenue. At one point, while on Columbus Avenue, a black sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, stopped close him. The juvenile victim fell off of his bike. Three black males, described as "high school aged", exited the black sedan and assaulted him before reentering the black sedan and fleeing east on Columbus Avenue. The victim reported that he lost consciousness but was eventually able to make it back home.

One suspect was said to be wearing all black clothing, a black fanny pack, and a sweatshirt with a dragon decal on it. A second suspect had red shorts and a white T-shirt. There was no description of the third suspect.

The incident is being investigated by the Montclair Police Detective Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Christian Dorsey at (973) 509-4721.

Theft

May 19, 2026 (Pleasant Way): The resident reported that an unknown person walked onto his porch and stole an electric scooter. Surveillance video shows the suspect to be a black or Hispanic male, wearing a red Nike Air Jordan shirt with a gold logo, black shorts, white sneakers, dark cap and a black backpack with a tan in color bottom (possibly Jansport style bag). The suspect was last seen walking with the bike west towards Orange Road. The bike was valued at approximately $400.00.

May 20, 2026 (Claremont Avenue): Employees at CVS reported that two unidentified people entered the store and stole several food and hygiene products. Suspect one was described as a black female dressed in a brown shirt, black pants, and white shoes. She was wearing a multi-color durag and carrying a black bag around her shoulders. Suspect two was described as a black female wearing a white shirt, blue pants, and was wearing glasses. At the time of the report, employees were unable to provide an itemized receipt of products stolen.

May 23, 2026 (Valley Road): Employees at Kings Supermarket reported a male entered the store and stole $600.00 worth of steaks. The suspect is a white male, in his thirties or forties, wearing gray sweatpants, black and gray flannel shirt with a 'Beatles' T-shirt underneath it, and a gray snapback styled hat with a black brim. He fled to an awaiting white SUV.

Theft

May 27, 2026 (Depot Square): The complainant reported that he arrived at Centercourt Montclair and left his black eBike unattended outside. When he returned outside a few hours later, the eBike was gone. An airtag attached to the bike revealed that the bike was in the area of Sunnyside Terrace in East Orange. Officers responded to that area where the bike was located.

Burglary

May 30, 2026 (Norman Road): The complainant reported that he completed a walkthrough of a home he recently purchased. After closing, he discovered the home had been entered. Multiple doors had been opened, lights were on, and an unknown person wrote, “sacrifice receive blessings” on an interior wall.

Motor Vehicle Crime

May 31, 2026 (North Mountain Avenue): The victim reported that her 2024 Porsche Macan was stolen from her driveway. She believes she may have dropped the keys to her car during a morning walk. The vehicle was recovered later in the day in Newark.

Arrest

May 31, 2026 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 43-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Disorderly Conduct following a disturbance on Bloomfield Avenue.
