Police Blotter: November 5 - November 12, 2024

MV Crime

November 5, 2024 (Fernwood Avenue): The complainant reported that a backpack was stolen from his work truck. The passenger side window was left down and the bag was left on the seat.  The bag was later located on Lorraine Avenue, empty.  A witness reported that the bag was thrown from a white Dodge Durango with California registration.

November 6, 2024 (Undercliff Road): An officer patrolling the area of Harrison Avenue observed a silver Volkswagen Tiguan that was reported stolen.  The officer attempted a motor vehicle stop and the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed into West Orange. 

Burglary / Attempted Burglary

November 9, 2024 (Christopher Street): The resident reported that a window screen on their home was partially lifted. Upon checking their home surveillance, they discovered an individual running away from their property at 3:23 AM. Entry into the home was not gained.  The last known direction of travel, as seen on the camera, was toward Hinks Alley.

Arrest

November 11, 2024 (Claremont Avenue): A 47-year-old male from Staten Island, NY was charged with shoplifting from CVS.  

 

Police Blotter: November 12 - November 19, 2024

Suspicious Person

November 12, 2024 (Harrison Avenue): A resident reported observing a suspicious male at the Delta Gas Station who appeared to be attempting to enter various motor vehicles. Surveillance video confirmed that at approximately 12:22 AM, a black male rode his bicycle onto the property and attempted to enter several vehicles which were all locked. He was able to enter the cab of a box truck. It is unknown if the suspect stole anything from the truck at this time. The suspect also entered another vehicle which was no longer on scene at the time the report was made.

Theft

November 14, 2024 (Valley Road): Kings Supermarket reported an individual has been entering the store and shoplifting. The suspect is a white female with white hair, black jacket, black pants and black shoes carrying around a grocery bag. She reportedly entered the supermarket on November 10, 2024 and stole $108.00 in steak. On the second occasion (November 12, 2024), she entered the store and stole $194.00 in steak.

Burglary

November 16, 2024 (Hartley Street): The resident reported that his apartment was entered at approximately 5:30 AM. There was no sign of forced entry, and the victim believes the suspect was in possession of a set of keys. Missing at his time is a safe, an Xbox, an Apple watch, various documents, and an unknown amount of cash.

Criminal Mischief

November 17, 2024 (Glenridge Avenue): Four juveniles on electric bicycles were seen on surveillance vandalizing the fifth level of the Midtown Parking Deck. They were seen using red, black, and white spray paint to place derogatory phrases and images on the walls.

Stolen Vehicle

November 18, 2024 (Gates Avenue): The owner of a 2024 Range Rover reported that he parked his vehicle on Gates Avenue at approximately 12:00 PM. When he returned at 5:30 PM, the vehicle was gone. He believes that his keys were accidentally left in the vehicle. License Plate readers placed the vehicle in Newark at approximately 6:15 PM.

 

November 19 - November 26, 2024

Theft

November 19, 2024 (Claremont Avenue): CVS employees report that an unknown male entered the store and proceeded to the body wash aisle. He proceeded to conceal several bottles of deodorant and body spray items before fleeing the store. He was last seen heading west on Claremont Avenue on a bicycle. The store reported $226.50 in losses.

November 23, 2024 (Bloomfield Avenue): The pump attendant at the Shell gas station reported that a white BMW X6, bearing NJ registration, came in for fuel. The occupants asked for $30.00 worth of gas, then fled without paying after receiving the fuel. The vehicle was last seen by the attendant east bound on Bloomfield Avenue. The vehicle was occupied by two black males in the front and a female in the back passenger seat. A check of the vehicle’s registration reveals it was a stolen vehicle out of Newark.

Motor Vehicle Crime

November 23, 2024 (South Fullerton Avenue): The complainant reported that he left his 2024 Range Rover in the rear of a South Fullerton address. The vehicle was left running. When he returned, the vehicle was no longer there. It was recovered the following day in Newark.

November 25, 2024 (Bloomfield Avenue): Employees of FireStone Tire Center reported that a white BMW X5 with heavily tinted windows pulled up to the FireStone Bay. A black male exited the BMW. He was able to retrieve keys to a 2024 Range Rover that was parked in the parking lot awaiting service. The suspect entered the Range Rover and fled east on Bloomfield Avenue. The white BMW followed.

Burglary

November 25, 2024 (Park Street): The victim reported that at approximately 3:45 AM he heard an audible open window alert at his residence. He went downstairs to investigate and saw that his kitchen window was open. The resident stated that he looked out of the window and observed a male, holding a flashlight, running east down his driveway towards Park Street. He did not observe the suspect enter a vehicle nor could he provide any further direction of flight. There were no signs of forced entry. The suspect is described as a white male, average build, approximately 5'9" in height, wearing a dark colored knit hat, a dark colored sweatshirt, and dark colored pants

 

 

 

 

November 26 - December 3, 2024

Motor Vehicle Crime

December 1, 2024 (South Park Street): The complainant reported that she left her 2023 Audi Q5 parked on South Park Street with the engine running and keys inside. When she returned from Starbucks a few moments later, she observed a male in a mask driving away with her car. It was recovered the next day in Newark.

December 2, 2024 (Stonebridge Road): The victims reported that they were working on a Stonebridge Road property when they heard a vehicle speeding away from their work van. Believing their van was entered, they checked and discovered two bags that were on the front seat were missing. The bags contained clothing items and numerous credit cards.

Burglary

December 2, 2024 (Upper Mountain Avenue): The victim reported that his residence was entered over the holiday weekend. Entry into the home appears to have been gained through a second floor bathroom window. Approximately $400.00 from a second-floor office was stolen.

Theft

December 2, 2024 (Mulford Lane): The resident reported that a FedEx package containing an iPad was delivered to his home at 11:45 AM. Approximately one hour later a black male, in his late teens/early twenties, wearing gray sweatpants/gray hooded sweat shirt, black bubble jacket, red or orange cell phone, black/white low top Nike sneakers is seen taking the package and fleeing. A bag of dog food was left in place of the iPad.

December 2, 2024 (Harvard Street): The resident reported that a FedEx package was left at her front door at approximately 11:00 AM. When she went to retrieve the package at 2:00 PM it was gone. The package contained an Apple iPhone.

Arrest

November 26, 2024 (Trinity Place): A 45-year-old male from East Orange was charged with Terroristic Threats and Weapons Possession following an altercation on Trinity Place.
