2026 Pool Registration opens April 27 2026, at 9:00 AM under "2026 Pool Memberships". Register at Community Pass here
Nishuane Pool will open for weekends ONLY starting May 23rd, 2026, Nishuane will open daily starting June 26th, 2026. Essex and Mountainside Pool will open daily starting June 26th, 2026, and will remain open until September 1st, 2026.
Nishuane Pool will close for the season on Sunday, August 16th, 2026, due to construction in the park.
2026 Pool Season: ALL Montclair Township Pools will be cashless. No cash will be accepted at any of our three pools. QR Code provided at the pools to purchase your daily pass. Proper ID required to purchase daily passes.
Montclair Recreation has relocated to 219 North Fullerton Avenue, Department of Community Services on the 2nd Floor. Please allow two business days for processing of badges for Pick-Up. Pool Badges purchased on the weekend will be processed in two business days. You can call ahead to see if your passes as ready.
Hours:
Monday-Friday 12:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Weekends and Holidays 11:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.
2026 Pool Fees:
- $250 Family (2 Adults and 1+ children or a single parent with 2+ children)
- $85 Adult
- $60 Child (2-12 years old) / Youth (ages 13-20) Child must be accompanied to the pool with an 18 and over adult)
- $25 Senior (age 62 and up)
- $60Youth (ages 13-20) can attend the pools without an adult.
Replacement Passes
Lost permits can be replaced for the following fee:
(1) Adult: $25
(2) Child: $20
(3) Senior: $10
Replacement Badges are purchased at the Recreation Office directly. Register at register.communitypass.net/montclair. Proof of residency is required for pick-up of badges. The Montclair Recreation & Cultural Affairs office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Please review the list of accepted documents below:
List of acceptable documents:
- Rental Lease agreement
- Homeowners' deed/closing contract
- Valid NJ driver's license
- Valid NJ identification (Essex County ID w/Montclair Township address)
- Township Tax statement in your name, with your current address. (Must be presented with valid NJ driver's license)
- Proof for 4-18 years of age: (private or public) school report card / driver's learner permit
List of unacceptable documents:
- Bank statements
- Cable bill
- Library card
- Passport
- Expired NJ driver's license
- County election bill
- Birth certificate
- Vehicle registration/insurance card
- PSEG, Water, or Utility bill
Financial Assistance

Daily Passes
Must show proof of residency upon payment for the daily passes at Montclair Pools. Pool Staff reserves the right to deny entry if proper identification is not provided. Please see the list of acceptable documents above.
Resident Adult: $15
Resident Child/Senior: $10
Looking for a summer job? Why not become a Lifeguard!
Looking for people ages 15+ for lifeguards, and pool attendants. Ages 21+ for pool managers, and all pool positions must have valid Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. Applications can be found on our Montclair Township website under Human Resources or in our Recreation Office or attached below.
Lifeguard Positions: Ages 15+
Pool Attendants: Ages 21+
Pool Managers: Ages 21+

Montclair Recreation Department
Adult Aquasize at Mountainside Pool
Montclair Residents only, must have a Montclair Pool badge to attend.
Registration will open Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, at 9am
Class schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays - starting July 7, 2026.
Fee: $25.00
Spaces are Limited!
Tennis
The tennis courts at Mountainside, Nishuane and Canterbury Park are open. The Rand tennis courts have been converted into our very own skate park in Montclair.
Tennis play is available from dawn to dusk at the three locations.
Montclair High School Varsity/JV tennis teams are permitted to use the courts #1-5 at Mountainside on Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. from March through May, Monday to Friday. Our sponsored tennis program through US Sports will also be using various courts throughout the year.
Tennis Permits Now Required on Municipal Courts
Township residents will need to obtain tennis permits each season which will be required for playing on municipal courts at Mountainside, Canterbury and Nishuane parks. Residents (ages 5-adult) may apply for a FREE tennis permit through the Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs. Proof of residency is required.
Montclair Tennis Permit holders will be allowed one (1) out-of-town guest for court play.
- All players must have their tennis permits when using the facilities.
- NO PRIVATE PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION is permitted at any time.
- Group lessons are under the direction of the Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs.
- Court usage is limited to one hour of play.
