Maple Avenue Street Improvement Work Underway
Published on August 06, 2026
The Township of Montclair has begun street improvement work on Maple Avenue between Bloomfield Avenue and Woodland Avenue.
The project includes the reconstruction of curbs and ADA curb ramps, as well as the installation of new drainage improvements. Work is expected to take approximately 2–3 weeks, weather and other conditions permitting, with a goal of completing construction before the school year begins September 3.
Traffic and Parking Impacts
Construction activity will typically take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
During construction, Maple Avenue may be closed to through traffic at various times throughout the workday. On-street parking will also be prohibited while construction activities are underway. Residents who need access to their vehicles during the day are encouraged to move them to a nearby side street before 7:00 a.m.
Driveway access may be temporarily restricted for several days where curbs are being replaced and while concrete driveway aprons are curing.
Information for Residents
Residents are asked to mark any privately installed items within or near the work area, including underground sprinklers, invisible fences and heating elements within driveways or sidewalks. Residents with plantings in the area between the sidewalk and curb should relocate them until construction is complete.
Affected residents should have received a door hanger with additional information about the project before construction began.
Paving and traffic-calming improvements on Maple Avenue will be completed at a later date. The Township will provide a separate notice to affected residents before that phase of work begins.
Questions or Concerns?
Residents with questions or concerns should contact the Department of Community Services at 973-509-5711. Residents are asked not to approach the contractor directly if a Township inspector or supervisor is not on site.
The Township appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as we complete these improvements to Maple Avenue.
