Pop Warner Cheerleading and Football

Join us and be part of a winning tradition with the Bulldogs. 

 

Montclair Recreation is offering Pop Warner Cheerleading for ages 5-18 and Football for ages 5-14 all ages are as of July 31, 2025. www.popwarner.com 

The Bulldogs offer a safe and  structured program for future football and cheerleading stars of Montclair. All 1st time players and cheerleaders are welcomed. No Experience is necessary. 

Season Play

Participants will learn the basic skills and knowledge of both sports and will also have the opportunity to compete against surrounding townships of the North Jersey Pop Warner league. 

Teams will play a 7-week game season locally throughout Essex and Union counties and have the chance to advance to Eastern regional play which covers teams from Upstate NY to Maryland and a chance to advance to the National tournament at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL

Practices will begin Aug 1st, 6pm at Nishuane park and run every day from 6pm-8pm Monday-Friday for the entire month of August. Games season will begin on Aug 29th.

During the season, Cheerleading practices are held Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30pm-7:30pm at Hillside school,

Football practices are held Tuesdays and Thursdays (generally) 6pm-7:30pm at Nishuane park/Woodman field

Most games are on Sunday’s mornings and afternoons between 9am-5pm.

Academics

 Proof of satisfactory progress in school is required. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate. In cases of doubt, conflict of opinion, or if a valid report card is not submitted, the nationally published scholastic eligibility form shall be used and deemed final.

Each year, the most academically accomplished Pop Warner kids compete for Academic All-American status. This process begins at the association level and up through each of the eight Pop Warner regions to the national level.

The Pop Warner All-American Program requires a minimum 96% grade point average to apply. After the applications have been processed, Pop Warner determines National First Team All-Americans (35 football, 35 cheer per grade), National Second Team All-Americans and National Honorable Mention Scholars.

Equipment/Uniforms

Participants will be issued equipment and team uniforms, but must purchase own cleats/sneakers and other accessories that are required. 

Registration Opens April 1st, 2025

All registration and paperwork must be completed before participating in practice. If you are going on vacation in August, please try to have paperwork completed before you leave, so when you return you will not have any delay in participation.

Volunteer coaches are greatly needed to run program. No Experience necessary, organization will train. All coaches for both football and cheerleading must have background checks and certifications in order to coach.
