Township Council’s Facilities & Infrastructure Committee to Hold Public Workshop for Municipal Building Program

The Montclair Township Council’s Facilities & Infrastructure Committee will be holding a public workshop as part of an ongoing program of soliciting public input to inform its planning for housing the Township’s primary municipal offices, as well as the Montclair Police Department.

The workshop will take place in the Council Chambers of Township Hall (205 Claremont Avenue) at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 14th, and will focus on discussion of various siting options and design concepts suggested by residents and other stakeholders. It will be livestreamed and a video of the event archived on the Township’s YouTube channel.

In addition to First Ward Councilor Erik D’Amato and Fourth Ward Councilor Aminah Toler, who have served on the Committee since its inception in 2024, Councilor At-Large William Harrison was officially appointed to the Committee on December 16th, and will guide the session, leveraging his deep experience in the area of land use and construction, and knowledge of Montclair’s built environment.

“I’m looking forward to working through all the options we have identified, many from residents,” said D’Amato, who chairs the Committee.

“Speak up - we’re listening,” said Toler. “Share your thoughts and shape your town.”

“We have been delaying needed action on these key facilities for many years, and now is the time to make decisions about cost-effective solutions,” said Harrison.

In advance of the public workshops, members of the public are encouraged to weigh in on the question of how to best address the Township’s aging municipal and police buildings to Councilors Erik D’Amato (edamato@montclairnjusa.org), William Harrison (WHarrison@montclairnjusa.org) and Aminah Toler (atoler@montclairnjusa.org), or any other members of the Council.
